The first one was a black face and the second was just some musical notes. It seems that the 4 digit ones work with more success on the forum.

That happened to me too, only the more boring ones worked.

They show up on some computers though, before my computer broke a couple of weeks ago everything showed up, but now they won't. The sound won't work either on it.

ally_cat just hold down the 'alt' key and press 3 or 4 numbers and then release the alt key and a squiggle should appear... why not practice first in Microsoft Word!

Yeah it must be the soundcard because it doesn't work when I put earphones in either. I don't think its broken because it worked fine before we had to reboot the computer so I think it might just need reinstalling.
