Well you asked what we think of it - in a word: TERRIBLE.
1. Exceedingly slow, to the point that it is just too painful to use. I have a 3.4GHz/1GB PC and 6meg ADSL. Running nothing else it was just so slow. Many, many seconds to respond to clicks, then blank screens for ages. Has it locked up or crashed? No idea as there is no progress icon to tell. System monitor shows it using almost no CPU and network monitor shows almost no network activity, and yet nothing is happening.
2. Confusingly useless user interface. With some tediousness I find a program I want to watch, and it asks me to confirm payment. Hang on, I don't recall any mention of payment, and the screen does not indicate how much this payment will be. Well done, that's really going to encourage use.
3. Silently installs a background service on my machine that continues to run even after I've asked the software to "Exit". That's damn rude.
4. Apparently this secret service uploads to other users in a P2P type way. I don't recall any mention of this. OK it might have been in the small print, which no one reads, but this should be made clear in the large print! Most ISPs are imposing traffic caps on their users (as a result of complaints about bogus "unlimited" adverts and FUPs), burning up peoples usage limit without asking them is extremely naughty.
Yeah, this whole thing sucks all right. The user interface never works properly for me, it's slow and confusing to navigate your way round, downloads are slow with a high upload ratio. On top of that, email support from 4od is non-existent, I have had nil answers to emails and an (automated?)password reset email.
I`ve stopped trying to get any sense out of them and decided to uninstall the whole software. I`ll check back in about 8 months which hopefully they might employ someone who actually knows what they are doing.
To be the first to enter the cosmos, to engage, single-handed, in an unprecedented duel with nature—could one dream of anything more?
