i know that I'm in minority but why 4OD works only on windows ?
I use Linux and that kind service forcing peoples to use products form Microsoft, where should be a choice. why it needs IE ? this is a biggest Virus and Trojan friendly program ? Linux also can pla WMA so somebody can tell my why Windows only ? it's like channel 4 sign an agreement with MS.
Other thing is that i don't see point telling peoples that they can use freeview instead. It's not a replacement is totally different kind of reviver than PC.
And for the end i just want to say that PC do not equals to windows. There is a lot's of other OS's that PC can work with. Channel 4 shouldn't advertise 4OD "Get 4oD on your PC now", that's a lie if you don't use windows.
Thanks Bart
PS. I'm not saying Windows is bad, just give peoples a choice.
Yes, I have the same issue, it's pretty lame. I've lost a lot of respect for Channel 4 over this one. They're clearly moved far from their origins of providing an alternative. I had the usual canned response by email about content requiring DRM and that only kindly Microsoft are willing to provide what they need. You'd think that Channel 4 would be able to provide some of their content in a DRM free format, but that appears to be beyond them.
I missed the IT Crowd tonight due to bedtime story issues, so no chance to catch it now. It is a joke that they offer it as for the "PC". I'm sure Microsoft would be happy to sponsor their TV ads, they could get a little "world of services that run on Windows" jingle in there somewhere.
They clearly do not understand the cross platform, open standards vision that the Internet was built on and would rather help turn it into a limited sandpit for a few powerful corporations. They're welcome to it.
