Looking forward to The Apprentice too.

This is the sort of post I was hoping for. Well done, Kaledmutan. Lots of stuff, and you've obviously given it some thought. A real mixture of gems like Fawlty Towers, Yes Minister and Columbo amongst rubbish like Hotel Babylon and Grown Ups (in my view).

Why, thank you, the rationlist! It is always just an opinion as to what is good or bad TV and , as I say, I have DVDs of all of the shows I chose (well the DOND Challenge for DOND - and the complete series of each near enough). The sheer extent of the list I provided just goes to prove the old saying "One man's fish is another man's poison". Not sure if cowesboy would be as sympathetic after my "fanning the embers" post in this thread, it was meant to be tongue in cheek!

But, what the hey, if we didn't all like different TV shows then there wouldn't be the diversity of shows on TV in the first place.

My only gripe about that is still that only the first series of some of MY faves are available on DVD and I wish that I could persuade the release agents for them to make a DVD for me alone if that is all that is required! With the way TV and recording of shows is going, who knows that might yet happen!!!

Don't get me started on films I might wear out my fingers typing up a list of the films I have on DVD!!!!!!

Cheers, all!!

Ooops! Missed a couple of shows: The Professionals, Goodnight Sweetheart and the brilliantly funny Jeeves and Wooster featuring Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie. Such a shame that when it was on TV the fourth series ended with an announcement that a further series would be made and sadly never was!!

Smile I love Eggheads but think it's time they introduced someone new. Chris is ok, down to earth. I used to like Daphne but she is too full of herself these days, CJ well enough said having looked at his web site. Kevin is nice but lacks personality and Judith is coming on nicely taking all the ribbing she gets from Dermot. Big Grin

Probably wouldn't interest many people here, but I liked Kevin Spacey's comments criticizing these reality shows that cast parts for West End shows, and saying the BBC should bring back single plays. If people here haven't seen a couple of Mike Leigh classics, Nuts In May and Abigail's Party, I recommend them. The sad thing is, of course, because TV no longer shows single plays, you'll probably never see the like of them again.

I take it you didn't detect a hint of irony in my post when I suggested I enjoyed those daytime chat shows! Harry Hill's not bad but currently getting my laughs from Gavin and Stacy. Also strangly addicted to Love Soup.

I haven't seen the first one but Abigail's Party was great.

I agree Hazeleyes. It has stood the test of time , in a very 'retro' way.
