Have you had a special moment today? Mine happened when I brushed past the sweetpeas on my way to the compost bin, and smelt the wonderful fragrance of afore mentioned flowers. I love sweetpeas - had them in my bridal bouquet.

Eating a couple of my home-grown tomatoes.......

That must be lovely to be able to pick your own fruit and veg from the garden! Not a lovely moment today, but yesterday my daughter went shopping and came back with a little pink teddy bear for me that she bought out of her pocket money! Ahhh! Smile

Sounds pretty organised to me Popeye! I only have my tomatoes...apart from the apples and plums which are falling from the trees as we speak!

Our parsnips failed this year - something cheeky ate them before they got going properly. Had yummy toms (taking a while to ripen since we had those grey days), lots of courgettes and boat loads of runner beans and french beans. Went around the neighbourhood today with two carriers of beans, seeing if I could offload any. Think they thought I was a gypsy selling pegs at the door!

We didn't have great success with carrots last year - what few there were, the dog used to dig up and eat. She also wolfed down half a raw swede. We've only a small veggie patch (in our small garden) so only grow what we feel will be successful.

I would love to have an allotment but I suppose they are quite expensive? We only have a small garden and as I love my flowers I don't grow anything else.

Allotments near us used to be £2 per year until recently. They are now £10, but now have water up there. Most of them are unused and in a terrible state. Mr. Moonbeam took one on, and whilst digging, fell over and did his back in. Had to give the allotment up then.

I don't think they would be that cheap here! Although we aren't allowed to use a hose pipe in the garden, you can use one to water an allotment!

Oh wow, lucky you, about the granddaughter i mean. My oldest friend (we've been friends for over 50 years and we had our first-borns within 2 weeks of each other) phoned me yesterday to tell me she was going to be a granny. I am so jealous, in fact I went into a major sulk.
