Did anyone else think the banker gave Elaine a lousy opening offer yesterday, £12000 when she took out 5 blues ? A year or so ago he would have offered £20000 but since then money has got tighter ! I suppose it doesn't really matter what the opening offer is since no-one ever takes it.

I agree with you to SOME EXTENT however, what you need to take into consideration is that, the next round there is a higher probability three or even two reds could be revealed.
He only offered £20,000 with Mat, with Stevie last year he only offered £10,000 (for an all blue opening round) It depends heavily on thr Banker's mood.
But, he is getting a little tight with his money Nod

Yeah the banker is tight but i said this ages ago...and it's getting boring...he has no compassion to those who use a charity or disability to gain money...the man is vile....
it's best to keep the mouth shut....don't give him an inch....
and those that cry and are desperate for cash, forget it, go out there and get a job and earn it, it is possible!

*I agree with last weeks issue!*

Chanelle has no talent, why are they giving her so much t.v exposure?

Not being rude, but that is totally uncalled for! Some people may find it hard to get a job due to lack of qualifications or perhaps a disorder. Maybe, they need the money quicker than a job can provide.
I know, it might be lazy to some extent, but come on! Who can blame people for wanting to come on DOND for financial reasons! It gives them a sense of a holiday aswell!
But, I understand where your coming from! (I have to give a balanced argument, obviously!)

Betty's game is another example of the banker making a low offer when the game is still in play, Angry Madhad she dealt earlier the offer would have been in the region of £40k with £100k in play. So pleased she told the banker he was "mean" with his £19.500 offer

I think it's more to do with the fact that the other box was only £10 than the banker being mean. If the other box had been £1000 then the offer would've been higher.

I agree, the job of the banker is to get the player to deal for the lowest amount possible. With only £10 as the other box, he could offer even lower than he did and anyone would have to serioulsy consider grabbing the cash or risking a 50/50 bet on £100k. I always view it as if you were going to place a bet with tyour "offer" of either winning the higher amount or losing and taking peanuts. I bet not many people would if they went into a bookies with £19500 in cash with a 50/50 chance of losing £19490!

I still think Betty was right to say the banker was "mean" with his offer. Thumbs Up

Although you view it as if going to place a bet with your "offer", if you WERE going into a betting shop you would have to have that 19500 in your hand in the first place, but in DOND you don't have it unless you've said deal. And hardly anybody would go into a betting shop with that kind of money and those odds, but a few people (and I know one) actually would. Just as in DOND hardly anybody no deals in that situation but a few do, and Betty just happened to be lucky.
