So instead of us submitting forms like idiots on the web why don't you simply close down the free web entry on those days.

I presume in general that free web entry winners only in general receive the smaller prizes which telephone entrants receive both the large and small prizes.

Richard,
I cannot be 100% certain but the reason why the most winners are in England is simply because that is where the majority of viewers are located. It is illegal to manipulate a contest like the DOND viewer prize to allow certain geographic areas to have priority over others. Channel 4 are well aware of the laws governing these kind of competitions. While I agree with you that it's highly frustrating not to ever get comprehensive answers from the moderators here, I think you are barking up the wrong tree in persisting in believing that by not living in England you stand less of a chance of winning. I live in England and I have yet to win.

Regarding your theory that web entries receive the lowest prize this is also not correct. Firstly the winner is chosen randomly by computer so there can't be any conscious decision as to who will win which prize. The computer doesn't know who has entered via which means.
Secondly, on another thread on this forum someone with a user name of "gazza" something or other posted that he won £25k via web entry on Boxing Day. That's the biggest amount I've seen anyone win. And a few months back someone else won £10k via web entry.
I'd like to win as much as the next person and I agree that there are issues we need addressing by the powers that be. But your arguments aren't really based on anything especially reasonable which may be why your points aren't being replied to. Just a thought.
Personally I'm glad that we're allowed to enter this for free.

I don't even know how you got to TRY 90 times. I've just got through six times - but then got a message saying that I'd exceeded my 30 trys! Confused

Brainteaser has a free daily web entry. Prizes are much smaller though.

I think it means that the poster tried the maximum number of tries-30- over 3 consecutive days- equalling 90 times in total.

I don`t get message to say I`ve done 30 goes, so have to count as I go along, as I believe they check to be sure only 30 entries, if you win. No luck in last three games and only once a day for last couple of weeks. Maybe is a problem somewhere as usually used to get a couple at least

I've managed to get one entry accepted today...and cant be bothered trying anymore...I'm missing the programme cos I've got to keep looking while filling out blooming forms and deciphering wonky letters...no fun, I say. When did they change the form? I used to be able to right click on the old one, rewind and hit enter really quickly.

Hi everyone. just joined up. I have been trying the competion for many months now. I have been lucky most days in getting at least three congrats. However I have found recently that my computer crashes after about 20 attempts. I find that when I start up my computer again I get another 30 attempts. What happens to my previous ( 3 today ) congrats, & if when I try again do any congrats count or do I lose them. this is happening on a regular basis, but only when I'm on dond. Can anyone help . Thanks

Hi Asia4

I cannot be 100% certain but the reason why the most winners are in England is simply because that is where the majority of viewers are located. It is illegal to manipulate a contest like the DOND viewer prize to allow certain geographic areas to have priority over others.

I take your point but on the week I made this post there was both a winner in Northern Ireland and one in Scotland. This is the first ever week in the shows history that five of the six weekly winners have not been from England.

In addition to this we have had many user on this forum claiming that they have been able to get more acceptance messageages depending on what region of the UK they were in.

Regarding your theory that web entries receive the lowest prize this is also not correct. Firstly the winner is chosen randomly by computer so there can't be any conscious decision as to who will win which prize. The computer doesn't know who has entered via which means.

I think you misunderstood my point, I did say that on occasion web entry winners will win big but in general they will only win between 1000-3000. One other point via phone it cost £1 to enter and its free on the web there is no way the web entrants are going to have anywhere near the same number of prizes as telephone entrants. If 50000 enter via the telephone and 100,000 enter via the web, most prizes will go to the phone entrants. If they dont then less people will enter via phone and channel four will make less money therefore I doubt that the system is random.

Personally I'm glad that we're allowed to enter this for free[/quote]

I'm glad to but there is not much point in entering the competition on days when web enteries will not be accepted.

Does anyone else have a grey background now when they take part on the online free web entry?

it is truly annoying that you have to retype your details for every web entry

usually on a website the page remembers the details after the first attempt - you spend the entire programme typing in your details - ahHHHHHHHH!!!!

I've never got through on the web entry either - annoying again!! if we could afford thousands of phone calls do you think we'd be trying to win money in the first place Frown

GillyUK - you DON'T have to waste all programme doing your entries. You can enter from 3.00 pm Sunday to Friday - so get them in before it starts and the relax. Good luck.

The system is completely random. All types of competitions like this one be they phone or web are chosen randomly. The comp owners would be liable for prosecution if they chose according to geography. I've stated this several times but you seem to not believe it. I'm not a C4 moderator either.
I enter a lot of comps online and so far have yet to win one. that isn't because somehow I'm being unfairly treated by the comp owners but simply laws of statistics and because many people do the same thing.
If you don't think there's any point in entering then don't. If you do then go ahead and enter.
It's really very simple and shouldn't cause anyone so much thought.
Use Roboform as your formfiller and you'll be done in no time.

Just to add to the arguement about randomness. I would like to add that I cannot d/l files for free on rapidshare because of the way my isp uses proxies. It determines that I have already d/l a certain amount in the hour when I haven't touched it. It not rs's fault and there's little I can do apart from using some russian proxy. So...
There is definitely something afoot with the dond entry system and it isn't necessarily channel4/dond's fault, but would be nice to know what it is. And I do kind of feel it would be nice if they made the effort to try and explain it.
Happy entering...

Guaranteed idiot-proof- even I could work it out, and will make entering all kinds of forms so much easier you'll wonder why you didn't find out about it years ago.
Good luck1

Also, if you have the google bar at the top of your screen, you can click on autofill and do it that way. Once you have filled out the form you can just click on it each time you enter and then you only have to fill out the drop down box for date of birth and then do the coded letters. The only thing is if you entry is accepted, you have to fill out all the details out again for the first time after that..if that makes sense!!!

roboform does everything but the security code. I've tried lots of methods and Roboform is by far the easiest. Others on here will confirm this!

I used to try doing it that way as well but it didn'r always work so you do need to rember that.
