Poor Dave's parting shot was - " That board was there for playing - don't care what anyone says " Never occured to him that a £15,000 offer at box 8 - is always a sign that the board is unusualy good ! Poor boards get poor offers. Noel was wrong to quote the 2% against taking out the best 3 reds - you only need to remove a big one to bring the offer way down - thats a wacking 37.5% risk - and when it goes down you are trapped. Emma showed him the way - If I needed money for my daughters wedding - I wouldnt gamble with it when it fell into my lap.And he was the first to offer others advice !!! In fact it was Angie's syndrome again.
I agree with you, but Noel didnt not say just taking the biggie, he said there was less than a 3% chance of taking out £100,000 ...£75,000 and £35,000! thats what Noel was saying On the other hand, I agree with your point about Angela symndrome...I think "he wanted more than £15,000" he was probably secretly chasing the £100,000 although, he said he was not...or maybe he didnt realise it. Mind you, I would have dealt at the 15p too
to back up Gamesman's point I have 2 perfect example. Sarah and Artak. First Sarah played and dealt on the 3rd round at £16,500 (could have had more..but overall beat the banker) and the next day Artak declined £28,000 and £16,500 and won £750. So caution probably is the key to DOND partially however, I cant really say that fully, because DOND has different games and everyone has different scenarios!
Hi, yeah I havent watched DOND in a while...I guess my game went like Emma's but I could have had £29,000 at 1 point. But, i took the £19,000. Spent it all now. I am Candice, who played a long way back. I think last year

When Dave said that at the end I actually thought "I wonder if gamesman's watching this, because he'll have something to say about it"! I agree he had "Angie" syndrome, but perhaps he was lulled into a false sense of security at having a strong board at the beginning? At least he didn't cry like a spoilt child at the end.
Let's put it another way, you go on with nothing so you might go home with nothing as in Dave's case, I hope that being on telly helped him find him daughter Mandy, as Dave said it is worth more than any money in the world and I hope that someone who knows Dave tells us that he has been reunited!!!!!!

Read my post again - Noels stat is a (bankers ?)red herring - removing one biggy will kill the big offer ( 37.5 % chance ) - Cant see how the £250 k will we won again - you need £250 K in the box ( 1/22 ave games ) coincident with a crazy gambler to take a 50/50 chance at the end at the same time:
Dave said to one of the other players "I'm not going to chase the game." Then no dealt? He was chasing the game the minute he didn't deal and destined to join the sad losers club. £15k is not an amount of money you can win on Goldenballs or weakest link? BTW I would have not dealt at the last offer, I think it is a good idea to try to join the 1p club. Reckon there will be a special programme for all 1p winners!!!

Can only agree, gamesman. Dave had a board which was unusually good and also very precarious because of that fact. As you say the removal of just one of the big reds would have hurt him. Yes, weddings are expensive , but £15k towards it (yes, Harry, we know it's tax free) would have been a damned good amount. I missed the start of the show but gathered Dave was a well liked player with a story to tell. Sadly those with a reason or touching story seem to rarely do well on DOND but I have to say Dave took the disappointment with diginity and I wish him all the best for the future.
Although I liked Matty, he seemed hopeful that the reality of his disaster would be saved at the end, Angela seemed to believe she deserved big money, the most dignified low winner on the show has to be Orry who despite his tears produced a fantastically unique ending to his game as the show was drawing to a close.
Okay so the chances of a second £250k winner are much reduced if caution is the byword in the Dream Factory but isn't it part of the appeal of the game that £250k is almost unattainable except for the select few who are either lucky or prepared to risk it all. The ultimate finish has to be £250k and £100k but how many times have these two been there at the end and the game still in play? Over to you, DOND_#1_FAN………

I am very surprised you can't remember when you were on the show Candice. We had Nic on here too but she seems to have disappeared.

I know, sounds silly...but I have bad memory I played like in December...not sure when it was recorded though ...as DOND isnt live..

Fair point, but just say he took out even the £35,000 it looked as if it was worth the gamble because when £100,000 and £75,000 is in play you should be offered £20,000. £5,000 extra is worth the gamble in my opinion. With, Emma she dealt early and it looked as if she would squander a life changing sum of money...but I think the banker played her a bit differently when the £100,000 wasnt going, he was reluctant to offer £17,000 again. In reality, I think she could have had £3,000 (But, so what...£3,00 isnt worth the gamble) It just depends on the scneario I mean with Laura's game...it looked like her game was going no-where. The only power 5 remaining was £250,000 and her back up of £3,000. Every game is different, you cant really judge someones game due to different statistics as when Laura played the week was followed by bravery NOT being rewarded, and she played her game the exact same way and got the big one.
and gamesman, the £100,000 and £250,000 have infact beeen kept till the end of several occasions but people dealt a round or two too early eg. Donna, Gaz, Sara

Basically the point has to be that every game is different and played by a different personality (which is what makes the show watchable to those of us who enjoy it!). I agree with you Usman that every scenario is different.
To add a quote on the "wrong" thread: "Every cloud has a silver lining but every silver lining must have a cloud!"

Sorry to hear about your bad memory Candice. I have checked for you on another site and you actually played your game on March 8th 2006. Time flies doesn't it?
