A few weeks back I needed some work done and i used workbidder. Got a few good replies and actually had builders who arrived at my door and took their shoes off when they arrived. Never had an English builder do that. And they worked hard too.
Beware... I live in Eastern Europe for a few years, and they have a very different system of housebuilding to us. Many family homes are built by the future occupants over a number of years as the children are growing up, so, many Polish lads have some experience of helping dad with some building work. But this is hardly professional training... and in worst cases it can be the blind leading the blind.
Just about every Polish male that comes over here classes himself as a builder, and there is no real way to determine their standard of work before you employ them.
Also, you often need very close supervision as their style of building, and use of materials can be very different from our own. (Personal experience talking here).
So beware! You may get an excellent job done for relatively little money; but on the other hand, if you pay peanuts... well, you know the rest.
Be very carefull. My polish builders messed up my property renovation. They messed up the foundations, roof and a structural wall..and my favorite was when i discovered they had assembled 2 chimineys upside down because they couldnt read the instructions.
........and never, never use any Heating Engineer who cannot show you his CORGI Credentials either and it matters not whether he/she is from Birmingham or Timbuctoo. We have seen some of this European gas and plumbing installation work at first hand and it 'aint good!! in fact some of it is downright dangerous and try getting them back for guarantee work as well on a just a mobile number. I've been taking a look around the net for info on the workbidder site, I used it to post a job i needed done and loved it but i wanted to check what other people thought about it.
The site is selling shares in itself and it seems a good investment but for a super idea but i don't want to get into something which may be open to abuse or have some shady background i don't know about.
If anyone else has used it would love to hear... good or bad.
