This is about the third thread on the subject over the last year.
I agree with it. It will give ALL doctors and specialists access to your notes, so every one will have instant access to all information.

Doctor: You`re an echo. That`s all. A TimeLord is so much more. A sum of knowledge; a code. A shared history. A shared suffering. Only it`s gone now, all of it. Gone forever.

But then YOU are obsessed with money.
Whereas I am obsessed with people staying alive. And with all specialists having instant access to all medical records, then people are more likely to get the correct treatment. In the quickest amount of time.
Been there, done that.
Still alive to talk about it.

Don`t YOU get ME started on this AKK.
How dare you bring into the discussion a fictional Doctor as played by an actor.
I have an illness, it`s chronic, in that I have had it a very long time. over 22 years to be exact.
At one time I was seeing FIVE different specialists at 3 different hospitals.
Where would you suggest they kept my notes??
One quite a few occasions I had to attend outpatients for two Specialists at different hospitals in the same week. Usually they managed to get my notes from 1 hospital to another in time for the next appointment. Twice they didn`t, and had to send a courier to pick up my notes from the Hospital I had attended the day before so that the specialist I was seeing that day could read them.
Since being diagnosed, which was over 5 years after I first started complaining of symptoms, I have had 5 operations, I spent 4 years having chest X-Rays every 6 months (at one stage I had the x-rays every 3 months). I had FULL Lung Function tests every 3 months, and I was on a high dose of steroids for nigh on 10 years.
On a scale of 1-10 with hay fever being 1, and lung cancer being 10, my illness scored 8 according to my Chest specialist.
I`m one of the lucky ones. There are people with the same illness as me who have to be hooked up to an oxygen supply 24/7 because thier lungs are damaged. Equally, there are others who have died because their lungs were too badly damaged by the disease.
So don`t you DARE start being flippant on a subject you know nothing about simply because you like to start whinging threads about money.
FYI, just in case you don`t know, or couldn`t be bothered to find out, or simply ignored in your desperation to moan about money being spent in the health service. Specialists and Doctors have SECRETARIES who enter the information on the computer database.
And unlike the people at your work who can`t be bothered to keep the works database up to date, the Doctor`s secretaires DO keep the patients notes and records up to date.
Now you know why I took issue with your comments in the OTHER thread.
Now, if you don`t mind, I have a large amount of medication to swallow before I go to bed.

we trust you to look after your passport and birth cert, don`t we?Or Tattoo yerself wiv the info!
why don`t they just e-mail your info over??, ...sorry to hear of your chronic disposition ...but remember...typed info... one dot out and you are a gonner!
A databse means everything is stored in a central location. Accessable by specialsts all over the UK.
Therefore, if you happen to be away on holiday and something unforseen happens, they can access your complete medical record. instead of wasting time looking for doctors` email addies and then emailing them, asking for info, then waiting while the info is mailed back. What happens if it`s a bank holiday and the surgeries are shut? If the info is in a central database, then the info is INSTANTLY accessable. Voila!! no time wasted, and an infinitly better chance of getting the correct diagnosis the first time around.
AS to carrying my medical notes around with me. Purlease. I`d get a bloody hernia. And if I took it abroad on holiday with me I`d be forever paying excess baggage.

I'm glad I don't know you in real life Akk, you sound like such an ignorant ahole.
A database is essential for a modern health service. It's very obvious reading the things that you write that you talk about things that you know absolute jack about.
perhaps if money is the issue they should stop wasting millions in places like iraq so they can spend more on modernising the NHS with things like an efficient national database. definitely the way to go. as an NHS worker, it is very worrying how many "all user" emails we get regarding missing notes!! plus perhaps another step nearer to reducing the amount of paper we use.

according to you,the world would never survive without modern equipment!
Never actually said that.
What I actually said was, that man invented machinery to keep people alive. They can`t uninvent the technology because it`s too expensive to run. Which is what YOU are advocating.

I am more sharper and intelligent than my friends/associates who have
mobiles daily papers landlines computers multi-channels inc.various for news etc,etc.... don`t get me started!!
By the very fact that you are posting on this forum, means that YOU have a computer.
Also all your threads point to access to at least one news source, either daily papers, or TV.
Both of which show you as a hypocrite.
quote:
it`s a myth that modern access to everything is the answer to intelligence.
Didn`t actually say that either.
Having complete access to a patients medical records doesn`t make a Doctor more intelligent. It just ensures they have access to all the information neccessary to make an informed diagnosis the first time the see a patient. Thereby wasting less time, money and resources.

`let me get a calculator` my associate at work said....i got my pen out and did it there and then on side of a box!:
As I would have done as well. But just because your associate wanted to use a calculator it doesn`t mean he`s stupid, as you seem to think he is.
people are mad!!!!

without modern appliances.... how has the world survived thus far????
Well, I don`t know. Perhaps we should shoot the idiot who first harnessed the use of fire? I`m not sure I`d like to go back and live how my ancesters did in caves. But it`s obvious that you do.

Loser.
You have a lot to learn about life ,Little Bird, being so young and untainted... may I just thank you for being so liberal and caring and knowledgeable enough to put me right! If you knew me you would `love me to the utmost!`..a bit like the Vamp!

If computers go down....as they do...
`sorry Mrs.Vamp, can you come back in October ...you`ve missed your time-slot!`
You`re right, computer systems do go down. And when they do it`s plastered all over the news.
Note how often it`s plastered all over the news?
That means that it hardly ever goes down.
Besides which I fly from Gatwick North. Whose computer system did not go down.
What you`ve got to realise akk, is that the news is nearly always made up of BAD things. Very rarely are good things reported. It would get very boring if the news constantly said "Nothing happened today at Gatwick, all planes flew on time".
Also, if you get rid of computers completely, just think how it will affect YOUR daily life. Computers affect EVERYTHING we do. Even in ways we don`t even realise. Being overcharged on your electric bill? the info`s on a computer somewhere.
The meter reader who reads your gas & electric meters puts the info onto a handheld computer and your bill is available online very soon afterwards, and, if you still have it, your paper bill is on your doormat a week later. And, before computers, you didn`t have the facility to pay for these services monthly, only every quarter when the demand arrived on your doormat
Think of the queueing you`d have to do if you had to get a cashier to give you money everytime you wanted cash, instead of an ATM. Think of the amount of paper being wasted making cheque books just for each cheque to be used only once.
I use my computer for everything. Internet banking. Paperless bills. Paying bills online. All of which means my "carbon footprint" is a lot smaller than it used to be before computers became a fact of life, as I no longer have to get into town to physically pay these bill
