Ok so I felt bad about my poor mum being run off her feet, so I volunteered to cook dinner, and I said it'd be done by the time she gets home.
I'm cooking this thing I remember cooking in Home Ec once, it's basically: bacon, celery, courgette, onion in creme fraiche with pasta.
But I have a few queries if anyone can help... firstly, how do I chop a courgette? And also, I plan on frying all the vegetables first, and the bacon in a separate pan, and then once they're all cooked, chucking them all into a pan with the creme fraiche. At this point, how long (roughly) will it all take to cook?
Thanks.... I'm hoping someone who can cook can tell me.
You can do whatever you want with a courgette but I tend to just thinly slice them.
Having never cooked meat EVER, I'm not much help but I assume you know how to cook bacon so I would just fry off the bacon then add the veg a couple of mins before it's ready. Then stir in creme fraiche - saves on washing up
I guess the sauce would take no longer to cook than the pasta so all in all should only be around 15 mins cooking time.
Thanks. I'm just not entirely sure what I'm expecting the sauce to be like when it's 'done' is my problem. I'll give it 10mins or so and then see what it tastes like.
Don't overcook it. You should serve it immediately after adding the creme fraiche. As soon as veg are just tender, stir it in and warm through for 30 secs or so.
