Hello Jess! I posted a little message on Frasierians a short while ago too.

There isn't any Frasier news to report I'm afraid. Although, there is a car outside with 'DHP' on the licence plate...

Hello all.

I don't really have much to say but let you know I'm still lurking and very much enjoying the nice weather.

Just done a quick Google news search and DHP is going to provide a voice for a new sci-fi comedy, 'Amazing Screw-On Head' piloting in 2006. it's adapted from the comic book 'Hellboy', which DHP provided a voice for in the film adaptation. Other than that, nothing else to report on.

Hope everyone's well!
Jess.

Hullo! sorry for not being around much, I've been rather busy. Hope everyone is still cheer personified! Its way too hot here at the moment. It did rain earlier though, which was odd.

Thanks Jess, it sounds pretty good. I tried to post a link about DHPs new show when the board was playing up. Do you think we'll ever get to see any of the casts solo projects over here?

Quick F. related question thats been bugging me: Whats that episode where Frasier says 'excuse me whilst I go and poke out my minds eye' or something to Niles?

It contributes a lot to the people who only post in it - they all know each other well and get on fine without upsetting anyone.

So, a very unironic bump.

Phewf. Took me forever to get it, but I made it.

It appears that everyone must be enjoying the contuining good weather. Hope you're all well.

Ana, the DHP project may make its way over here because it's being made by the Sci-Fi channel, but I'm not sure about the others. One can hope, but I imagine they won't make it to terrestrial. Fingers crossed they'll be successful enough, though.

A quick look on Google and a search in Frasier Files unfortunately didn't find the quote you mentioned, Ana. I can't recall the episode myself, but I'll keep my ears open for it!

I'll be off now. Hope the thread stays with us and life as Frasierians can resume uninterrupted.

Take care!
Jess.

The Frasier thread hasn't quite been the same since C4 wiped our old one, has it?

On the plus side, they showed the glorious 'Travels with Martin' this morning. That's a good episode to wake up to.

"Tea?!? Why not just wave a crumpet in the air and sing 'God Save the Queen'?"

Hmm, it seems like everyone's here, there and everywhere at the moment with it being summer an' all. Hopefully things will resume as normal soon.

As for now, hello CL and John! Yup, 'Travels with Martin' is brilliant. I can't help but say, "sure" in an American accent whenever possible, it's become ingrained in me. Great stuff.

Anyway, I hope everyone's well and having a good summer. I haven't been doing a great deal, mainly reading the new Harry Potter book. Wooh.

Take care!
Jess.

Hello! hope everyone is well. I tried to post a few days ago, but it allegedly contained trigger words. I was too tired to post again. Its raining here at the moment, but still very hot.

Ditto Jess regarding Harry Potter, so far I've somehow managed to stay away from spoilers. Snap. I try and say 'sure' like that as much as possible too. Smile

Watched some S4 yesterday. The bit from 'Odd man out' where Niles attaches himslef to the back of Daphne's dress never fails to make me smile. They must have had such a laugh writing those scenes.

Hello Ana!

Hopeflly C4 behaves itself now, it's been rather naughty lately but I think it's calmed down now. Here's hoping.

The weather can't make up its mind here either. It's not rained today but it's been dull and humid. I suppose it's better than the stifling heat we had last week, but hopefully things will be more comfortable soon. I can't stands no more.

I'm doing remarkably well to keep away from the spoilers with this Potter book, given that with the others I always inadvertendly found out the endings. A few people have been teasing me because they know what happens with this one, but so far I've done well to resist temptation. It's easier said than done, but quicker I read it the better it'll be for everyone!

'Odd Man Out' is one I haven't seen in ages but I do recall that great moment with the dress. Naughty Niles.

I've just rewatched the outtake clips from the 200th Episode celebrations, the ones which someone very kindly gave the link to yonks ago. I forgot how funny they were, it's a shame they haven't put them on DVD. If anyone else is bothered about seeing them again then the link is here.

Take care!
Jess.

We've been watching S4 lately. 'Roz's Turn' was tonight's episode - a great one, with Bebe at her best.

What's the general consensus on the new Potter? I've never read any of them, although I've heard mumblings about this one not being up to scratch. That could just be the inevitable backlash, though.

*tilts head to the side, scratches hair*

I'm confused. Threads disappearing, posts, reappering, bumping, unironic bumping.

Precisely who is being bumped and in what fashion?

I shall do old faithful (if he's free!) (wahey!) (sorry) and pretend I understand what I don't and swiftly change topic. Got me through four years of uni!

Hello! As ever, forgive the lack of posts, I've not had internet access. Except once briefly when there was no Frasier thread, but my inbox full of non-chronological emails from the Yahoo group, with CL on her iPod, all of which caused further confusion, a little drooling, and a decision to run away Bravely Bold Sir Robin style.

But I ran/sauntered back.

Trust all is well. Ana, you are (I think) the only person I know who lives(-ish) in London thus was relieved to hear you were fine. I had to text John to find out in fact!

Quite a random little time since last posted. Graduation went swimmingly, except for a slight last minute rush thanks to traffic jam and cumbersome kilts. Being given your degree ("capped" with an ACTUAL CAP!) by Dame Diana Rigg - Emma Peel from The Avengers - is quite a surreal experience but she's a grand old broad and I loved her. 'Course we were advised beforehand - "DO NOT TOUCH DAME DIANA RIGG, DO NOT SPEAK TO DAME DIANA RIGG, DO NOT MAKE EYE-CONTACT WITH DAME DIANA RIGG". My Graduation photo has now arrived and my entire family insist it's "braw" (Scottish: really good), however I maintain my shoulders look wider than some motorways, I have a goofy smile and look contorted. And THIS will be the photo on the news if and when I get brutally stabbed. Typical.

The Graduation Ball the next night was a rather glorious event as well. Inevitable stress when at 3pm I realised my ticket went home with my parents the day previously, resulting in a rush round trip along the train track, but made it in time. The meal was a little bland, but when everyone is in kilts, tuxes and ballgowns, cheerily stumbling through the Dashing White Sergeant and the Gay Gordons etc, it doesn't matter. Plus so many people so very intoxicated, myself included. A friend drank so much she had to leave about 10pm and it took her boyfriend TWO HOURS to get her up the staircase at their flat. Ho Hum.

A lovely way to finish university. And happily the next day, rather than lounge around hungover, it was quickly moving on to Edinburgh for the Make Poverty History demo. 225,000 people. Quite impressive. Really odd as well, because over the day I hopped between Stirling, Edinburgh and Perth (passing Gleneagles), encountering the Live8 concerts on TV periodically, yet _feeling_ them where I was thanks to the mammoth police presence. There's a concert in London, Philadelphia etc, so why is Stirling train station crawling with cops!

Come Wednesday and was at Auchterarder for the protest as close to the Gleneagles hotel as possible. My friend and I got there early as we went by train, and the police actually lied and told the coaches in Glasgow and Edinburgh the march had been cancelled (a blatant, deliberate tactic and quite outrageous when you ponder it), but eventually around ten to fifteen thousand made it, and there was a spirited, carnival atmosphere. We were reasonably close to the front of the march, and did go into the field up to the fence - I was just next to the ITN news camera in fact but happily was not on the telly. Was near where the 'violence' began (not involved obviously), so when they started choppering in the riot cops, I was actually facing a line of them, prior to them actually coming onto the field to move people back (by which stage I was far back anyway - was not getting involved with that). Actually seeing the Chinook helicopter flying so low was quite intimidating and my friend pointed out how terrifying it must have been to be Vietnamese when hundreds of these things were flying overhead all the time. The police were (and I say this objectively) far too heavy handed. Thousands and thousands of people turn up, twenty or so idiots start throwing sticks and kicking the fence, thus hundreds of riot police charge, horses run all over the place etc. And of course that becomes the news story. It was in a guilty way exhilirating, but infuriating that our genuine concerns and reason for protesting is obscured by mindless twits throwing sticks and a useless, thuggish media.

Likewise John, I haven't read the Potter books, but purely because I don't care that much but do know the basic story and characters, I read the last few pages to be pompously in the know about what happened!

God, I need a life!

Last night a female friend and I walked to a beauty spot at the top of a steep hill with spectacular views (a local suicide point) and sat as it got quitely dark and the lights over the city came on, the river darkened, the motorways hummed, the moon drifted by. By chance a firework display went off by the river - quite strange looking at fireworks from several hundred feet above. And all this in a relaxing summer night air, followed by a walk back down the hill through the woods in the twilighty dark. Was the most romantic few hours of my life! And with a woman! Who is also single! We were both bitter...

Back to Potter - a woman told me she is quite disappointed so far as the last one was written as if for 15 year olds give or take, and this one is more for 10/11 year olds, so it seems like the series has regressed a little. Either way I love JK Rowling's droll macabre humour, telling young kids who love the books she might kill all the characters!

She lives quite close to where I do (home town, not Glasgow) so I think a very strong and convincing argument could be made that I'm entitled to a small amount of her fortune.

As the post has yet again entered 'sit down with tea and biscuits to read' epic length, I shall wrap up with a pleasing Frasier anecdote. A friend has never been that fond of Frasier, but usually only saw the flat episodes of the later seasons, and I've spent months, nay, YEARS, trying to convince her that she would actually love it given the chance. We watched Daphne's Room last week, then Flour Child...

... she asked to borrow the Season 2 boxset!

Farewell then. I'll probably be at the library in a couple of days so should be able to post then, but if not, back as soon as feasible. Confusion pending.

Hullo ENH! Thanks for the concern. Is that the longest post the board has ever seen? Glad the graduation and everything went well.

Regarding Potter: I've just finished 'half blood prince'. It wasn't bad, but wasn't brilliant either. I thought the last book was pretty poor too. With this one, it felt as if all the ecxiting stuff was too little too late. Good luck trying to get some money out of Ms Rowling.

Just found this on the bbc's website New Dr who's fears over role. Aw.

Hello everyone and welcome back ENH!

Glad the graduation went well and you were able to participate in the G8 march. I was very annoyed by the TV news coverage focusing on the riots and not the number of people who'd turned out, peacefully, to support a good cause. Tsk.

Oh, and congratulations another Frasierian converted!

I've finished Harry Potter too and I thought the same thing, Ana. The first three remain the best in my opinion, the others have been good, but I think Rowling's had too much pressure on her, and it shows. The problem with 'Half Blood Prince' was that it's clear a set-up for the final, which should be a corker, given what's meant to happen next. Here's hoping.

Hope you manage to get some money out of Mrs Rowling, ENH. Apparently she earned $36 million on Saturday, not a bad day's work.

I hope everyone's well despite the continuing chaos in London. Take care all.
Jess.

No. Lord knows he's made longer posts before. I've had to go and get a flask of coffee just to prepare me for them!

Thanks for that link Ana. Filming started on the second series of Doctor Who today - ooh. Ooooh-eee-oooh, ooo-eee-ooooooh...

Yeah you're right John, Lol. Filming started already? Does that mean there will be pictures soon? It'll be interesting to see what kind of costume they give DT.

Has Ms Rowling scheduled a date for the last HP book yet Jess?

Gotta dash but have a great weekend everyone,

Ana, all I know about the last HP book is that Rowling is due to start writing it later in the year. As for a release date, unfortunately no one knows yet but my guess is that it'll be two years off. Eek.

Dr Who's started filming today, wow, they move fast don't they. Fingers crossed it'll be as good as the last series, I imagine it will be.

Have a good weekend everyone!
Jess.

There's been one pic so far, of David and Billie leaving the studios after filming. Not in costume as far as I know, although David is looking very sexy.

It's also more-or-less confirmed that Stephen Fry is writing an episode (rumoured to be set in the 1920s), as he was seen at the studios, too.

Exciting!

Hello all, hope you're having a good weekend.

Great news about Stephen Fry writing an episode, fingers crossed the rumours are true.

At the moment I'm in love with the Spamalot song, "You Won't Succeed On Broadway", DHP's show-stopping number. It's absoutely brilliant, DHP is a great singer. Anyway, if anyone would like to listen to this song then just say the word: nudge, nudge, wink, wink. As for now, you can read the lyrics here.

I would post them up here, but I don't think the trigger-happy C4 moderators would be best pleased.

Right, I better dash. See you all later!
Jess.
