New PM!

Yeah, I saw Lost. I found it surprisingly dull and lifeless. I was quite annoyed by that, as the premise behind it is good!

Hello all! Belated birthday wishes, CL, glad to hear you had a nice day. Congrats on the new car, too! I've gone from reading three books at once to having nothing left at all, so I may have to pop to the library and see which of those books I can get. Ta for the recommendations. HP sauce, how very apt! I've only seen bits of 'The Catherine Tate Show' and it's never appealed. I've only been watching 'Extras' lately, which I'm very much enjoying. I quite liked the first series of 'Absolute Power' but I haven't seen any of the new series. I like the quote, sideshow meg! Perhaps I should pick it up again. I recorded 'Lost' but I'm not sure whether I'll watch it. The premise looked good but I've heard it's disappointing so I don't know if I'm bothered anymore. Morbid curiosity will probably end up winning, though. I hope everyone's well and it's nice to see this place is full of life once again! Jess.
If you want me, I shall be in the spleen.

I'm determined not to watch "Lost" as the premise seems so clichéd! I may succumb, however, when the dull Autumn evenings arrive...

I suppose it's a cliched premise in a way, but new for a TV series for a story like that to be spread over 22 weeks. Unfortunately, if they couldn't make the pilot interesting (the first episode I mean, not the pilot of the plane!) then I don't hold out much hope for the rest.
|

I'm afraid after today's events in Greece I find I can't bear the thought of it. Meanwhile, three cheers for Paula Radcliffe, for finally winning a gold medal and without a toilet stop!

Apparently episode four will hook you. Have to wait and see, I guess, but everybody who has seen the whole thing is saying not to give up yet.

Hello! Hope everyone is well. I saw the third episode of Lost the other day and don't think I'll be able to stick with it for the whole 22 weeks, me thinks an 8 part series or so would be sufficient. When that finishes Desperate housewives *should* start again. Yay.
Agree about Catherine Tate Jess, my friends saying 'bovvered' all the time is driving me mad.
'Extras' is pretty good, although I think I might have been slightly pre-disposed to liking it. If that makes any sense. Les Dennis was terrible, but I guess thats the point! Who's the star this week? Ana ~
|
| |
|

|
I thought Les Dennis was wonderful! Bravo to him for being so willing to send himself up. He was the best of all the guest stars they've had, and it was the first episode of Extras I'd truly enjoyed.

This week's star is... Samuel L Jackson.

Hello all! I still haven't watched 'Lost' ye, and now I'm three episodes behind so I doubt I'll try and bother to catch up. Ah well, it doesn't sound like I'm missing out on much. I agree, John, the Les Dennis episode of 'Extras' was fantastic. I heard beforehand that he sent himself up but I wasn't quite prepared for that. Kudos to Mr Dennis. The Samuel L. Jackson episode was alright but it felt very reminiscent of ‘The Office’. It would have been nicer if SLJ was more present too. Next week is the last episode, and the guest star is Patrick Stewart. Should be interesting. I skipped on Catherine Tate but I watched 'Absolute Power', which I enjoyed very much, more than I did any of the first series. Most of all, it was nice to see Tim Brooke-Taylor appear, playing a well-known TV travel show host who wants to shed his "Nice Guy" reputation. Hmm, I wonder who they based that on... I hope you're all well and have a nice weekend! Jess.

Hello! Hope everyone is cheer personified. I'm sorry for neglecting the thread recently, it's not intentional Aw, I missed that Extras the other week. Patrick Stewart sounds good, doubt he'll top his performance in 'The doctor is out' though. Memo to self: re-watch epsiode very soon. I've got muddled up with the lost episodes already. Duh. Watched As Good as it Gets the other week, despite having it on dvd. Did Greg Kinnear (Sp?) get an oscar in the end or was it just a nommination? Ana ~

Just a flying visit I'm afraid. The Patrick Stewart Extras was rather funny. Is There going to be a second series?
Saw the Decoys yesterday. I still find it a bit odd that it took Roz six years to find out about Niles and Daphne but thats just me being fussy.
Oh, I was watching One foot in the Grave - is it true David Renwick said that if he was stuck he'd 'just do what the writers of Frasier would do' or something? I vaguely remember reading that in the Radio times years ago but can't quite think who said it.

Hello all! I hope you're all well and I apologise for my absence. I haven't been up to a great deal, though I did turn 19 last Tuesday and to celebrate I spent Sunday and Monday at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. It's the first time I've been and I enjoyed it immensely. I saw a little bit of filming for Rolf Harris' art show as soon as I arrived and then wandered up the High Street to see some street acts. I then went to see John Oliver (of 'Mock the Week' fame) & Andy Zaltzman do a very funny show, and then I went to Omid Djalili - a great comedian. The next day I only got chance to see one show, but it was the one I was there for: 'Paul Merton & Impro Chums', which was hilarious. One funny moment was when Merton was kneeling in a scene and one performer walked up to him and said, "Mr Hislop, how nice to meet you! Can I have your autograph?" to which Merton replied, "Let me sit down first!" Heeheehee! Anyway, enough of my ramblings. 'As Good as It Gets' is a film I need to see again, I can barely remember it. Ana, I've just done some research on IMDb and Kinnear was nominated for an Oscar, but didn't win. Jack Nicholson and Helen Hunt got one each though. I enjoyed the Extras with Patrick Stewart, he played a fantastic part. Stewart's idea for a film had me in stitches, he should do more comedy. Ana, I believe that a second series of Extras has now been commissioned. I wonder if Andy Millman will progress with his sitcom or it'll fail and he'll go back to extra work. It'll be interesting to see what happens. I'm not sure what David Renwick said about the Frasier writers, but it sounds like he's a fan, which is nice. I've been watching 'One Foot in the Grave' lately and I'd forgotten just how deranged it was. Very enjoyable, though. Btw, congrats on hitting the 500 post mark, Ana! Poor you CL, all the best for the new term! Take care all! Jess.

Belated Happy Birthday Jess! The E. Fringe is on my must do list. Maybe next year. Appolgies for my absence too, I haven't got a home pc at the moment, its being repaired (which is code for not comming back). Thanks for the congrats regarding the 500th post, I hadn't realised . Ta for the As good as it gets information too. Not really a pet person, but I want that dog! September already. Ditto hope the start of term isn't too stressful CL. Todays going to be pretty quiet so I might make the effort to watch some S8 or 9. Hmm. Ana ~

Oh dear oh dear, where is everybody? Thanks for the birthday wishes, Ana. I would definitely recommend the Fringe, it's great fun. Though, the best thing to do is to have a rough plan of what you want to see and perhaps book some advanced tickets, otherwise it's just completely overwhelming. Edinburgh is a lovely city, it's a very enjoyable experience. A quick Google news search produced no news on the Frasier front. Never mind. The only titbit I do have is that I listened to a Paul McCartney interview and when he asked what his favourite TV shows were, all he said was, "Frazier". Ah well, close enough! The second year of uni is fast approaching. Eep. I hope this place livens up and you're all well. Take care! Jess.

Hallo! Still haven't got regular Internet access. Didn't that woman on the brittanic money adverts also used to say 'Frazier'? How anoying, Lol. That's something else which irritated me - couldn't they have got someone else to sponsor the show?
I watched some season 9 a few days ago, 'Blazy boy' and 'Room full of heros'. They were probably the highlights of that season. Also, I'm pretty sure one of the trick-or-treaters in the latter was the same kid who Mrs Moon had that rather odd feud with later on.
Just out of curiosity is there anymore information on the new Zelda geme? Ana ~

'Frazier' with a Z...Murder Most Maris, how brilliant. Maybe I will go and watch that on dvd now, hmmm

Hello Ana and sideshow meg, it's nice to see some signs of life in what is currently a girls-only forum. John, ENH, CL, Valor, Mickey, hope you're all alright out there! I think the woman on the Brittainic ads said 'Frazier', and didn't Equitable do the same thing too? It was probably the same V.O. woman. The most annoying thing about Equitable was those bloomin' ink-blot tests. Oh, how happy I was when those things went! I keep forgetting about Frasier on Paramount 2, they're showing S9 aren't they? They were definitely doing S8 last time I checked. Dear oh dear, I'm not doing very well, am I? I watched 'Daphne's Room' today, again. I love that episode. The only problem though, is that the more I watch the older episodes (as I have been recently), the more I miss the quirky Daphne. I'm not all too informed on Zelda, but its full title is "The Legend of Zelda: Twighlight Princess", which sounds rather exciting. It's slated for a release on February 1st, which feels like forever away. The screenshots and video clips on the official Nintendo site are amazing, I think we're going to be in for a treat. Take care all as a new week beckons, the last one before it's back to uni. Oh, how I'm going to miss this freedom. Jess.
If you want me, I shall be in the spleen.

Hello all! Sorry for not being along sooner. I've been in Scotland chasing ENH about for the past week (not really - well, I *was* in Scotland but ENH kept avoiding me - wise man!). Stayed in the centre of Edinburgh at a hostel, it was super. What a fabulous city. Also visited Stirling and Loch Lomond, and climbed all sorts of historical monuments (including the Wallace and the Scott).
I didn't realise this place would've been as quiet as it has been!
My season six box-set arrived today from PlayUSA. Marvellous, can't wait to get stuck into it. I haven't seen it for a while and it's a hugely underrated season.
Hope everyone's having fun!

Hi! Hope everyone is well. My Friend gave me back my Frasier videos the other day so I've been busy watching them. Saw 'The seal that came to dinner' and How to Bury a millionaire' for the first time in a few years. It was almost like watching new epsiodes.
Season 6 Dvd John? haven't even got S4 yet. Lol. Thanks for the Zelda information Jess, shame about the Feb release date, I was hoping to get it for Christmas.
Oh, I caught a bit of 'The fabulous life of celebrity wives' on VH1 and they had a little piece on KG's wife. When they first got together she hired a $3000 a day stylist called Montgomery Frazier (no lie) to coach her on interviewing ettiquette and the like. Think Pretty Woman. Ana ~

Yep, S6 is out in America now Ana - and S7 comes out in November. I did hear somewhere that Paramount has no plans to release S5 in the UK this year, but that could've been a lie.
It's a shame Zelda isn't being released this side of Christmas, as for me the Zelda games have always been games to play in winter - especially with the new one looking so dark. Oh well. Speaking of Nintendo, did you see the Revolution controller? It's shaped like a remote control and is movement-sensitive, so you can actually control games simply by moving your hands - and use it as a tennis racket, for example. It certainly looks interesting!
