what is the interest rate they`re offering?

Where`s the call centre based? perhaps they`re busy.

I`ve just had a gentleman call me asking about my WHSmiths points card. Apparently, being a "valued customer" I was in with a chance of winning 1000 points. I just had to answer a few questions.

Then he asked if I would mind being contacted by relevent third parties with offers which might interest me. I told him I was a night worker and slept during the day, so I wouldn`t want anyone to ring me during the day. He repeated that it would only be `relevent third parties`. I then repeated that i don`t want phone calls during the daytime when I`m trying to sleep. He then sid "ok, thank you. Good bye" and then hung up.

What is so damned difficult to understand that night workers sleep during the day??????

grr argh.

You`ve been past the Peel Common sewage plant then? Smile

The "Peel Common Pong" is notorious.

The plant is a mile away from where I live, and sometimes the pong is horrendous even at that distance!! Eek

The fire and ambulance stations aren`t too bad, as they don`t generally leave the station with their sirens blaring.

Just got my quote for next year's car insurance. What a rip off, I supposedly get a discount for having more than one type of insurance with the company. I have just downsized car from a 14 to a 5 insurance bracket but the price of my car insurance has only dropped by £2 per month inclusive of my discount. What a blooming joke. Have rang round various call centres today.... I have BTW lots of experience as I not only worked for a very early call centre in the UK but was a supervisor and trainer for them. I was met by crackling and silence and chewing noises before a very abrupt but unitelligable reply allegedly telling me their name and the name of the company. I commented on this only to be met by a defensive stream of "would you like to speak to my supervisor" etc. No I would not, basically if this is how I am to be met as a potential new customer then NOOOOOOO. God love the external call centres, I have spoken to them lots today, they have a better grasp of a foreign language than I have but I have to say, very sorry guys, I am the one with the problem, I have a difficulty in a telephone situation in both making myself understood and making them understand me. It leads to frustration and mistakes, the English/British call centres make enough of them themselves without the language barrier. I have eventually got my insurance sorted, they deal in UK call centres only, (I spoke to an operator who was South African, from Cape Town) working in this country. The biggest difficulty I had was with the usual call centre background noise. I know what it is like to work in the call centre industry, the work can be and is often repetative and quite boring, however customer focus is imperative and I found many of the companies I called today very lacking in that focus. It is no wonder that calls last longer that is required if we have to constantly repeat information. My last experience, non-UK call centre, resulted in information, even though being spelled phonetically and very very slowly coming back incorrect on the documents. Most of my calls were to 0800 numbers today but on my mobile this actually costs me money, probably and due to the communication barriers, more money than I would have saved if I had stuck to the original quotes.

Sorry that was one of my rants. Love this forum, I can get loads off my chest. "Big chest, got a row of 40 medals.....My brother Sylvest...." Sorry guys, had to have a drink to get over the stress of calling the insurers, sure you all understand, perhaps should enter the "Meditation Zone" to calm down Big Grin
