Make people who are on benefits earn them, by cleaning graffitti, sweeping streets mending bus shelters, phone boxes etc in their local areas, thus improving the communities where they live, putting more money back into the kitty lowering our national debt and half the out of workers will suddenly get jobs so we wouldn't have to employ immigrant labour easing that problem too!

who`s gonna answer this ????
Cos there`s lots of people on LOW PAY, and BENIFITS who buy cars on HP and then get into DEBT. They`re all IDIOTS!!!
there you go, I got all your points in one sentence.
In my opinion, the financial instistutions charge far too much for borrowing.
You only have to look at the profit figures released by Barclays today to realise how much we are getting stung for. And that is just ONE company.

Hmmm interesting...I guess its because of the following:
I think that there's a "spend now, pay later" culture that came along with new Labour. Lower interest rates seemed to have encouraged a lot of borrowing on loans and credit cards. I admit some guilt in this by getting an IFA to get a mortgage that was 4.5 times my income nearly 3 years ago! It was only for a small flat and it needed lots of work doing to it. Things are a bit easier now thank goodness.
As people got a bit flashier and flashier with their "wealth", their peers decided to try and match one anothers' lifestyle. I have watched a few programmes of BBC 3's "Spendaholics" , which is very interesting as it delves into the psychology of the debtor! They are trying to be competitive with people they know or are trying to spend to give them some kind of comfort.
As for lots of benefit claimants, I don't know the answer to this. One woman I know who moved to a council flat opposite my parents' house in 1994 with a young girl. The girl is now a teenager, capable of looking after herself outside of school hours, so why doesn't the woman go out and get a job, that will give her a better quality of life, instead of claiming off the state? She obviously doesn't mind living in a council flat on a very basic income for the rest of her days.
