tomorrow afternoon my midwife will confirm that im to have a c - section due my baby being breech, i have had a previous section but was put to sleep due to needing to get my son out quickly. i had my first child normally so its not a case of too posh to push.

im terrified of being awake and wondered if anyone had been through it and could tell me what it feels like so i could start preparing myself as i dont want to be put to sleep either as coming round from a general takes away the first moment with baby and the time that i would be asleep someone else is holding and feeding my baby so i will be awake this time. any info would be great

I'm afraid that I've got no experience with birthing. Ninja

But I was born through C-Section because my head was too big (NEVER!Razz). My mam had to be awake for it, and she said that it was pretty scary--but the hardest part was when I actually got out. Razz

I was born through C-Section too! I had the umbilical cord wrapped around my neck and my heart rate was dropping.

I was two weeks over due and my mum went to the doctors who told her she needed to straight to hospital for a c-section.

She told him she couldn't go as she'd made my dad a nice pie for dinner! Big Grin

My birth almost killed my mam because of some reason or another.

I tell her that she has to be nice to me because if I'd have wanted to, I could've killed her.

But she's not. Ninja

Pffft.

We have harder heads than everyone else you know, because we didn't make them funny shapes by travelling down the birth canal... Eek

Caeserian? *shrugs* I think that's wrong!

My friend's just had one, no problms, just a little scar in her bikini line.

The first 8 months of midwifery training is taken up by learning how to spell "Caesarean Section". Worryingly, after 3 years training, half my class still couldn't spell it. I like Soph's spelling the best.

I think I just added in 'ian' for obvious reasons... same way I keep spelling 'again' as 'agian' Pumpkin

Becky - My sister's baby was born breech, but because the birth was very quick (and premature), she had to do it naturally! That doesn't happen very often apparently, so every medical student in the hospital and a lot of the doctors too came in to watch her, she had quite a crowd. Eek

So as scary as the surgery is, at least you don't have to go through that! Big Grin

All she needs is therapy. All she needs is love, is all she needs.

i keep worrying that i might go into natural labour and have to have her breech. she isnt the smallest of babys either i keep getting told how big and healthy she is which is all you can hope for really. i went to the midwife today and one says she still breech and the other said she was head down and back to back - they couldnt agree so im at the hospital next wednesday morning.

They will probably inject you with ethanol to stop you going into normal labour

*shakes head*

A section will be organised before due date. If labour does start early there is still loads of time to get a section organised.

Yes if all goes well but if the worst comes to the worst they can delay labour in the way I said!
