...someone a bit more cleverer or stronger
or dynamic than themselves!

I call it the brick-wall theory...

children try their luck until you
become a brick wall...no way through...

they have to re-think!

You don`t get entertainment or love from a brick-wall! It is what it is!Tough to crack!

This society of wimps has created
rubbery walls .....which the crims can easily
evade!

don`t get me started Mad again!Grrrrr!

2 days ago my son was robbed at knifepoint. So don't get me started on crims. He is ex-army so no wimp but he said he just froze and handed over his money and openly admits that he was pretty scared. As it was outside his flat he is worried about going back so is staying with us in the interim until he can get somewhere else. If he had been a brick wall he may have been a dead one. What would you have done in the same situation?.........

Dearest Lemon, I have no witty remark to make about your post. I only write to say how sorry I am that your son had this experience. A mother's heart must indeed be sore at such a threat to her child. I hope that your son regains his confidence soon and can return to his home. He should not be driven out by such actions.

..brick wall....hmmm...

you say he`s ex-army..so I can`t blame his
body language ...because these bullies prey on the weak(100 year old man chased off mugger in the news)....

He did the best thing ...
but the `boundaries ` in the crim`s life
never appeared so ...until taught a good lesson,
what can we expect from this crumbling society?

I was robbed in a friendly way
when I was fifteen at a
fairground visiting my then town
by an older bloke....

and in the 80`s..My parents were burgled by
some young idiots who were later caught...
they took a video and some ill-placed
money under a bed mattress!

It hurts...cos it`s personal...
dwell on the positives...

we can kill ourselves thinking of negatives as you very well know...Frown

Thanks for your concern guys. All joking appart it has been a very sobering experience for us all. I always said I would stand up to the bullies but with a knife at your throat I think my son, who, I have to say is very good at disarming situations had little or no choice. It has been a great knock to him. We have been down today to have photos taken of his injuries and yes the guy has been found and arrested but no doubt he will be free to terrorise the neighbourhood for his free ride to drugs very soon. There is little chance that this person will be imprisoned for his actions, he will just do the same again perhaps until he actually kills someone, someone's son or daughter or husband or wife or mother or father and he will claim that under the influence of the drugs he was stealing money for he wasn't culpable so again he is likely to get away with it. Where is justice? Where is mine and my family's human rights in this? I am so sorry to whinge like this but until it actually happens to you you have no idea how it will affect you.

yes theres a lot of people who reoffend again and again and again and the system just doesnt seem to know what to do with them. prison obviously isnt a deterrent for these guys. my friend is a probation officer and she says a lot of them have mental health problems which goes some way to explain why they do it, but i suppose that doesnt help your son Ldk sorry x x x

let`s think of the `broken window` theory
or as `zero tolerance ` as it`s popularly known...

as soon as something negative happens...
correct it immediately...otherwise
we end up with a bigger prob!

Ya get me? Red Face #almost got started#

Criminal behaviour seems to go unpunished these days, to the extent that people commit crimes just to get into prison so that they will be looked after and get free TV and games consoles… and when they are let out a new life and house. Prison should be a living hell, so that if an inmate does survive and gets released after their full sentence they will be so scared of returning that they will never break the law again. Rehabilitation is a limp wrested waste of taxpayer’s money; prisoners should think themselves lucky if they get fed once a day, let alone helped by counsellors etc.

yes it does seem prison is no longer a deterrent, but is this the fault of "easy" prisons, or, going back to akks brick wall stuff, the fault of parents who do not set bounaries for their children so they know right from wrong. but then whose fault is it that people cant parent properly? i think the key to this problem is getting to the root cause

Part of the problem could be single parents with loads of kids that they can’t control or give a balanced view on life to.

its not just single parents!
but yes i think youve hit on an important point that the problem is multi-faceted and so theres no one solution

Also general chav culture where two teenagers have kids and say ‘we’ll cope, it’s ok’ and before they know it they’ve got 5 of the little brats running round their council estate chucking bricks at things whilst their uneducated parents pop off to get their dole money.

my friend is a single parent and she has problems with her son's behaviour. she has no family around and has little support and so no means of changing his behavior. i think in the past our city was more community orientated and she would have had the support and advice of extended family, neighbours and other mums. so i'm thinking maybe part of the problem is increased individualism today
