You miss the point - I was referring specifically to what is contained in the Hippocratic Oath, which Discodave quoted. If you read it there is also a prohibition on adultery. As for abortion, it doesn't matter what your law says - the Oath, if it was followed, prohibits it.

No, the argument is fallacious because there is nothing essentially harmful in morphine. It is a most efficient painkiller. It only becomes lethal when administered in overdose. The same holds true of paracetamol, aspirin and other medicines - even alcohol. He is equating the use of morphine with euthanasia - which is a separate topic.

When a terminally ill patient is given morphine it does mean that it is the beginning of the end. Maybe it does hasten the end, but at least it is painfree.

I won`t have paracetamol in the house. Even a slight overdose can cause nasty side effects.

you cant compare morphine with paracetemol, morphine is a powerful class A drug on par with heroine.

well akk, you cant simply cut off the bits of society you dont like because those bits are human beings. some may have the view that you yourself should be culled, simply because you hold a certain view or take a certain action. staying with the medical analogy, would you chop your arm off if it was infected, or would you take a course of penicillin? further, would you not maintain your health and avoid an infection altogether?
