gurkhas

a new law has gone through,
any serving gurkhas will now have uk citizenship,
as for the ones that did risk there life's,
the high caught is there next trip.
i am ashamed to be british,
these values i was not taught,
look after and respect your own,
was drummed into me until i was distraught.
our boarders are closed to the gurkhas,
we only accept those who wont contribute,
london is such a great and fare city,
these laws can only pollute.
we will moan and complain about everything,
from should we go to war in Iraqi to food that has to be organic,
please show your disgust,
otherwise the uk will sink like the titanic.

I think what they are trying to say is that Gurkhas have fought and died for this country and in turn they have been treated badly. Look it up. Learn somthing. It is shameful, And a disgrace.

But the poem is not ONLY about the Gurkhas.

What on earth, for example, has organic food to do with allowing the gurkhas to live here??

Personally, I think they SHOULD be allowed to settle here. But the fact that they can`t doesn`t make me ashamed to be British, which is what the OP is telling us we should be feeling.

Surely statements 1 and 3 contradict each other?
What does statement 2 mean, that we should or shouln't accept Gurkahs?
Why is the OP ashamed -
'Cos we are letting Gurkahs in?
'Cos we aren't letting Gurkahs in?
'Cos we are looking after our own?
'Cos we aren't looking after our own?

And further, why hasn't the OP come back and explained themselves?
Surely if he/she wants people to agree with him/her it behoves of them to clarify with what we are supposed to be agreeing or disagreeing!

I think he means Gurkahs currently serving get citizenship, but those who have finished being a Gurkha a while ago are to be deported.
