How can people have no conscience and have `duvet days` when they have no other reason than to get their allowance of SICK days done on top of their 20 plus hols ????
I usuallly have one night off sick in a year. And feel extremely guilty as a result.
Last night I was off sick, although I spoke to my supervisor and booked it off as holiday instead. I don`t want a sickness record. My company looks at sickness when deciding upon promotion.
Insurance compnaies also ask about sickness records when you apply for insurance/assurance.
So these people who have "duvet days" will find themselves paying for it somewhen down the line. Particularly those who get paid for being off sick, so use it as extra holiday entitlement.

Akk this topic really gets my goat, i did have a clear 10 year work record with no sickies and was proud of that til i slip down a couple of stairs and sprained my ankle, so needed a few days off, i know of people who do take at least a week off a year because they can and its sooo annoying, and when i was in charge of a workforce other people letting you down and then i having to cover of find cover because of others ineptness drove me mad
i had one woman whose mother-in-law died 3 times in 5 years

Firstly - I am still reeling at the use of the word conscience by the akk, considering some of his postings.
Secondly..some of the most wonderful days of my life have been 'duvet days', especially when my four wives are under the duvet with me.
