Totally! It's the only film (apart from a few silly ones when I was a kid) that's affected me that way, and probably will each time I see it. I've always wondered about the way that the end of the story is at the start of the film, and whether it was deemed too devastating for viewers to go through the whole film not knowing the eventual (tragic) outcome until right at the end, to soften the blow so to speak. |
