I really want an escape in my films and I have enough fun and romance already. Action can bore me, and thrillers can be hard work. Gimme a sick flick anyday - I like normality to be challenged.
I'm still a sucker for romantic comedy like Four Weddings, and I love all the old Brat Pack stuff (St Elmo's Fire, Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink etc). I also like decent ghost stuff, like Sixth Sense, or The Others. Not so keen on horror any more - I kind of grew out of that. Used to like it as a teen.
I also love kids films - great excuse when you have kids! Love Shrek, Toy Story, all the Disney classics...
The Ultimate GENRE has to be - Comedy/Horror. Nothing beats this for the absolute ride. All emotions in one movie - perfect.
Odd that nothing has beaten "Carry on Screaming", 1968, or "The Rocky Horror Picture Show", 1975; or "Young Frankenstein", or "An American Werewolf in London", 80's. We all know this winning formula, yet no one seems able to replicate it, these days. Why?
It does not make sense that there are no NEW Comedy/Horror films today. Odd! Joss Whedon (1990's) tried, but no Exectutives listened, just the lowly public did! Are we not the paying audience? Then try giving us what we want!
Science fiction .. comedy ... and everything inbetween
