Fair enough. Despite the fact that I was disagreeing with you, I must say that I'm not a fan of Horner or Williams either. I guess it's a question of whether a composer has his own distinctive style or whether he's unable (or too lazy) to produce anything original any more. Elfman, Glass etc fall into the 'distinctive' category, and Horner and Williams into the 'unoriginal' category. Williams in particular annoys me. One of my overriding thoughts when watching Attack of the Clones was 'Would Someone Please Make That Incessant Blooody Music STOP NOW PLEAAASSSSEEEE MAKE IT STOP AAARRRGGHHHH' which is a shame because that Duh-Duh-De-De-De theme in his Phantom Menace score was one of the only decent things he's done in the last two decades.

I think soundtracks are the best mix cds on the market, because you get such a mix of songs and genre but they still flow into each other well and you can relate it back to bits of the film
~~~~~~~~~~~~ Tarintino - 'Yeah I actually directed the pilot episode of Friends but there were like 26 Friends but I killed 19 of them off' ~~~~~~~~~~~~
I was going to put Cruel Intentions also but thought against it as then the list may have got a little "teen" orintiated. Save the last dance was okay - I love some of it but some of it is a bit filler-like
'singles' i do love a bit of grunge. 'natural born killers' 'the sweet hereafter'
i also love the 'betty blue' theme, the silencio club song in 'mulholland drive' and the song that's playing in 'silence of the lambs' when buffalo bill is getting dressed up ('goodbye horses' by q lazarus if anyone's interested) it just goes so well with the scene.
a lot of songs i like because of the films e.g 'blue velvet'. it's such a cheesy, crap song but it's taken on new meaning after the film.
Cronenberg's 'Crash' - got no idea who did it, but deeply affecting stuff, and gotta mention Tangerine Dream on 'Before Dark'. But it can be a mistake when the soundtrack is too prominent - I would have to include in the Ravishingly-Beautiful-But-Gets-In-The-Way category 'Once upon a Time in America', although The Good The Bad and The Ugly gets away with it - discuss....
Pirates of the Carribean - I love it! Bits are very similar to Gladiator but I like that as well. Also Footloose and Flashdance. (Showing my age a bit there!)
Yes, I too liked the soundtrack to Pirates of the Caribbean. Bought the cd for it too. If you notice, only the main title was written, or partially written by Hans Zimmer who composed the music to Gladiator. Most of the Pirate's soundtrack was composed by Klaus Badelt.
Well, as I was saying in that long and dreary post on another thread, it was Klaus Bedalt and about eight other people, and all within a kind of Zimmer frame-work. If you'll excuse the pun. [I'll get my coat...]
