I'd say any Tarantino film, Scarface, Platoon, Quadrophenia and Heat.

People like you find it easy,
Naked to see,
Walking on air.
Hunting by the rivers,
Through the streets,
Every corner abandoned too soon,
Set down with due care.
Don't walk away in silence,
Don't walk away.

I could list some favourites, but most have already been mentioned; but what about most effective? Jaws, for instance. Even Spielberg admitted the soundtrack contributed to 50% of the film's menace.
3 all-time favourites I'll mention anyway are
bladerunner; the mission and a fistfull of dollars

Ford Coppola's Dracula
The Deer Hunter
The Mission
Midnight Express
Indiana Jones: Raiders of the lost ark - the score in the map room is just brilliant
Guys & Dolls
Trainspotting
Human Traffic

I'm sure I've done this before as well, but I can't be assed to check! Are we talking soundtracks or scores? If it's soundtracks then probably things like

The Lost Boys
Reservoir Dogs
The Commitments
Scarface! PUSH IT TO THE LIMIT!

Crocadile Dundee has a very good original score too, surprisingly. Very trippy aboriginal music

Yeah I love that, I prefer the sequel as it's more extensive and dramatic. It's subtle at the beginning yet becomes powerful at the end...good choice Kieser

years ago, I made a home recording of the entire soundtrack to Apocalypse Now, dialogue and all. It was brilliant.

I do like the beginning of 'this is the end' you really can't seperate the song and the film - they are just stuck together!

If you sometimes like to chill out late of an evening, I'd encourage you to put on the DVD of Apoc Now and turn off the image and just listen. It has an amazing sound design, and you're right it's a seemless audio experience from beginning to end. I might do it again on the redux, get a bit of that new scene in the rain which will sound mint.
