Whats the scariest film you have ever seen and was it acually any good?

I sat up the other night as i couldn't sleep and ended up watching a british film i think called the jin, it was wet your pants scary. It was about a group of friends that do an Oujia board experiment thing and it goes abit wrong and they start getting killed by this jin thing anyway it was quite good. But i was too scared to go to th eloo on my own and had to wake my husband up to take me. I dont watch spooky films very often

The Blair Witch Project.

There is nothing in it which you'd mind showing a five year old child (if you don't mind swearing) but it is very scary.

Although it didn't scare me I always cringed
at the bit where the window comes down on the
little girls fingers because it reminded me
of getting my own fingers trapped in a car door
as a child.

I was really scared by The Ring, I didn`t watch the video that is part of the dvd-collection. I was alone at home, and it was too much for me.

And I`m afraid of things in movies that might can be true, like this god/satan is chasing you-thing in I dont remember the title (a boy dreams that the airplane will have an accident, he and his "friends" dont take the plane, but their destiny is chasing them, does anybody know this one?)

Bet he was pleased about that!! Big Grin

Scariest ones for me;

The Omen - that film so so creepy, even after all these years, I think.

The Shining - Eerie empty hotel, corridors awash with blood, creepy kid...

The Ring - I found both versions equally nasty.

Witchboard - I watched this film about 15 years ago and have never found it since, but it scared me and my mate witless!

Blair Witch - Very effective, and genuinely scary.

Sixth Sense - Brilliant film, with some really scary moments that had me tensing every muscle in my body in anticipation of what would happen!

It's called Final Destination - very good film, actually.

Films that scared me least of all were
The Exorcist and Blair Witch Project.

Blair Witch Projects least scary of all because
it's just watching a bunch of stupid people being scared and overacting.

Much scarier is 'Race with the Devil' -
Deliverance meets Rosemarys Baby Eek

Blair Witch didn't scare me...not until I actually left the cinema. The ending stayed in my head and freaked me out.

Cube also scared me for the same reason. It didn't scare me when I was watching it, but stayed in my head.

In general though don't really get scared when I'm watching a film. Ninja

Big Grin Did you go and see something else instead Arch? Wink

Think going to see it on Halloween and in the Corner House...a really dark small cinema in Manc, might have had something to do with me being scared afterwards. That and all my housemates being out.

Poltergeist scared me as well when I was younger. Mainly because of the clown she had...I had the exact same one. It got thrown out soon afterwards. Eek

I think I went to see Gone in 60 seconds after, LOVE poltergeist - One of Speilberg's best - It's such an eighties film. The death of the girl I found v. spooky. Craig T. Nelson wasn't too bad-looking either Ninja

When I watched the Exorcist at the pictures
a person in the front row passed out and
the ambulence men had to come into the theatre with a stretcher and carry them out.

I spent most of my time laughing in The Exorcist. Some bits I did find disturbing....but only because when people move their body parts in ways that they're not meant to...it goes through me, i.e twisting your head round. Don't know anyone who can do that though. Interesting party trick. Wink It doesn't scare me...just makes me say EEEWWWW alot. Ninja

Amytiville Horror: The original vergion, my mom made me watch it when i was little and I didnt sleep for at least a week.

The Grudge: Alot of people didnt find this scary but i sure as hell did. Its much worse when its on the big screen than in your living room. I couldnt wait for it to be over. It was especially scary cause the guy next to me kept on jumping out of his chair evey 5 minutes.

I thought the film of the Exorcist was really disappointing after all the controversy. I'd read the book a few times, which is way scarier - I would recommend it. The film was daft. The thing with twising your head all the way around...I mean, possessed or otherwise, wouldnt that snap your neck and kill you?

You'd think so wouldn't you. I actually found it all hilarious up until that point. I found it hilarious afterwards as well....but that bit went through me. The green vomit...I think it was green anyway was a particularly humorous point. Big Grin Ninja

I've read the second one...I think it's the second one anyway. Didn't think it was that impressive. Maybe I should've read the beginning book first. Doh! Wink

Thing thats scary about The Excorcist and
The Amityville Horror,I suppose, is that
they're both meant to be based upon 'True
stories'. I didn't find the sindy doll like
head twisting scary but I did think that
the "tarantula walk" which was cut out
of the original version was scary. Thats
where she crawls down the stairs on her
back. Eek Also liked the head spinning
in Reposessed and the French and Saunders
spoof Big Grin

I don't remember seeing that bit in the film I saw - so it was cut? That's one of the creepiest bits of the book! In the book she goes quietly up to her mother like that, and is only noticed when she snakes out her tongue and licks her mother's ankle. Eek Seriously scary book, honestly. It builds up so slowly, which is the best part. I remember being too scared to switch the light off after reading that.

The second one is called Legion, or something, isn't it? I know I read it once a long time ago, and can't remember it. Definitely try the first book, though, captain.

I've seen footage of that crawly bit...that went through me too. *Shudders* The book sounds quite scary. Eek But I quite like those kind of books. Cool

Can't remember what the book was called, I may have it on my shelves somewhere....how many have there been H.L? I hope I didn't try to read the third or fourth one that would be a massive doh! Red Face In my defence though, think I was quite young when I tried to read it.
