Yes I know, its a very hard call, but I would have to go with Serpico as number 1 with Scent of a Woman second. Does anyone agree with me or are there others I have nissed?
I voted for the Godfather as in Godfather 2 which I think is his tour de force and his film. I also rate Serpico, another brilliant performance and I think he's better than De Niro.
I voted Scent of a Woman, but then that's the only one on the list that I've seen. I like Pacino, I think he's an excellent actor, just wished I liked more of the movies he is in.
Just saw a movie that is coming out end of December in the States that I wouldn't mind seeing him in. He's playing Shylock in Shakespeare's Merchant of Venice.
The Godfathers are such an immense achievement probably the second one stands out as Brando (god rest his sole) stole the first one.
Personally I think one of his greats is Dog Day Afternoon, a film that just really suprises me every time I see it. Its great!
There is a theory which states that if anyone discovers exactly what the universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable.
There is another theory which states that this has already happend.
Serpico was great as were The Godfather parts 1 and 2. Also loved Dog Day Afternoon. Scarface and Scent of a Women are possily his most acompished performances but wouldalso recommend checking out The Panic in Needle Park if you haven't seen it.
Scarface was probably his best performance its amazing and yet sickening to watch this great character destroy himself and every thing and everyone around him. Plus it has one of the greatest endings I have ever seen! Just the picture of him face down at his desk and the piles of coke everywhere its mad!

Scarface clearly needs a deffence here! Its an astounding film, the fact it is painful to watch is a tribute to its greatness! How you people can compare Scarfacew with Scent of a Woman is crazy talk!!!

Would pretty much agree with you there. Although I do have a problem with Scarface and the "ham" that emerges in Pacino at times. Loved him in Glengarry Glenross.
Author, Author and Frankie and Johnnie were not his best but he's still my fave actor by a mile...
I think it has to be either Heat or the Panic in Needle park, although I also rate The Devil's Advocate and Looking for Richard (although that's not technically speaking a film).
not heat..no way on earth. I wouldnt say the panick in needle park either..hes too inexperienced in it..and tis obvious. I wouls say scent of a woman or..................carlitos way. in both those films he is transformed into somebody else and you damn well beleive it. they probably arnt his best but thats what i can think of just now.
the only pacino film i dont like is heat. It was so over rated especially the scenes with robert deniro. Its not the worst movie...just terribly over rated.
Gotta be scarface for me, closely followed by Carlito's way. I havent actually seen serpico but I'm definately gonna check it out after so many of you biggin' it up!
serpico, scarface and godfather are all superb but for me i would say carlitos way because you really sympathise with his charachter and understand what he does.

Scarface and Dog Day Afternoon are Pacino's greatest peformances. But I have to say that Serpico sucked! I mean it was a great peformance by Pacino but he alone can't save the movie, it was rubbish in my opinion. Other than that, I agree Pacino is a legend but saying he's not in the same league as De Niro is rubbish, they are both the greatest actors of all time although from around 1990 onwards, Pacino started his annoying shouting every line acting style and De Niro recently has lost his touch although he was great in Meet The Parents and Meet The Fockers. But they are both about the same in my opinion.
