Yep, that had those promo shots of the hero and heroine looking bruised and battered. I still find that oddly attractive in a man - Rough and ready and not afraid to fight. Ahem, anyway Ladder 49 is out to rent and as expected Joaquin Pheonix looks damn good in a fireman's uniform. But I'm resisting it as I remember getting Buffalo soldiers just cos of how great he looked in army uniform

I've not seen Buffalo Soldiers Arch....I take it it's not very good then. Ladder 49 I may get that out to watch...saw it in the dvd place the other day....yes I know I'm renting dvds from Amazon supposedly to save me money. But I'm still watching West Wing...and wanted to watch films as well. Ooops apologies...think I just had a small argument with myself there... I liked Joaquin in Signs. And how exactly do you say his name Arch? Isn't it Wa....quin. Or something like that?

Waa-keen, doubt if it's his real name though. His birth cert is probably very normal but I have a thing for unusual names. Liv Tyler really has it all; rock chick, great actress, pretty as hell, got to wear the lovliests costumes in LOTR who once dated him - unfair

Pah! She is very pretty isn't she. Although she seems quite nice in personality too...so I can't hate her too much. Lovely outfits in LOTR....wait wait she got to kiss Aragorn! It's completely unfair! Pah.

Yeah she does seem down-to-earth and open with people but that whole ROTK kiss brought the jealousy back. It was just so passionate and sweet and to think it was only acting - Some women have all the luck!

Aragorn...is it me or do you not like Viggo Mortenson in other films Arch? I mean find him *swoon* worthy. I only seem to like him as Aragorn.

He is lovely as Arragorn, great turn with the english accent, wild hair - even with the beard. He was Lovely. But I do like him in the Khaki uniform in the Hunt for red october, wasn't he in Psycho last week? I thought the soft voice was purely acting but it's not, it's nutural...making him more sexier I think

I missed that Arch ... so didn't see him. Pah. Think I love the character of Aragorn. Loved him in the book. Rugged, ready and *qwoooooooar*, thought he lost something when he went all king like at the end of the final one. When I saw Viggo in Hidalgo....I wasn't that impressed by his *qwoooooar*'ness. Did think it was a good film though. Can't remember him in Hunt for Red October, but you know what my memory is like...plus haven't seen that film for years. Ahem yes well apologies for waffle!

He had loads of cameos in the ninties, couple of sentences and that was it. To think stuart townsend was set to be Arragorn, he's too pretty boy looking anyway. Viggo was born to play him

Definately....needs a rough and ready rugged looking man...no pretty boys. Pah. Don't think Ewan would've suited the role. Viggo was born to play Aragorn just like Harrison was born to play Indie and Han Solo.

Imagine Tom selleck as our beloved Indy? *shudders* it's too daft to contemplate. Ohh somebody needs to find an excuse to get Macgrergor in a tunic and some swordfighting

Eeeew Tom Selleck as Indy...never! Did have a small crush on him as Magnum PI though. There is no hope for me. Ewan as a lovely medieval knight. He would've been much better at being King Arthur than blinking Clive Owen. *Nods*

Hi guys. Have a look at Witness (I'm sure you don't need much persuasion), Viggo's in that as Alexander Godonov's brother. You see him in the carriage when John Book hits that redneck. I remember thinking *qwooar* when I first saw the film. He's also in Crimson Tide with Denzel *drool* and GI Jane. It's funny when you think of some of the people that were slated to play certain roles. Ryan O'Neal or Robert Redford were wanted by the studio to play Michael Corleone but Coppola insisted on Al Pacino. I mean, RYAN O'NEAL! Purleaasssse!. *Hmmmmm, I feel another new thread coming on.* See ya later. Hope you're b-day was good Arch.

BTW, Wa-keen Phoenix is aka Leaf Phoenix as he was in Parenthood. Hippy parents called all the kids after nature, River, Summer, Leaf, Rain and Liberty (Liberty? Well I suppose it's hippyish.)

It went pretty well Sarara, thanks - Oh I knew he starred as two mariners Same lovely uniform. Joaquin was in spacecamp too. That's how speilberg got to know the Pheonixs' V. Glad he changed it from Leaf to Joaquin

Was that Viggo in GI Jane...the mean sargeant type person....I really liked him. I didn't realise it was the same person! Doh. But have always liked him......so I do like Viggo in other parts apart from Aragorn. Hurrah. *Qwooooooooar* Thanks Sarara. Joaquin...I thought that was his real name and he just changed it to Leaf because the rest of his family had wierd hippy names.....obviously I am probably wrong on that point.

You're right. I posted the message before I looked up imdb. According to them he changed his name to Leaf to be like the others. Weird thing is that River's real name is River Jude Bottom, Joaquin is Joaquin Rafael Phoenix, Rain is Rain Joan of Arc Phoenix, Summer is Summer Joy Phoenix and Liberty is Libertad Mariposa Phoenix. What a weird combination. The mind boggles. Viggo was nice in GI Jane wasn't he. I really like him in Crimson Tide as well. Must be the uniforms *qwooar*

Ahh yes, god bless seamstresses' everywhere for making wonderful man-oggling material. Do you know what's weird, River was pure blonde and Joaquin and everyone else is dark But ahh what a lovely Puerto Ricon he is and that scar on his lip doesn't alter him at all - He's still gorgeous!

Blinking heck, I was right?!...a rare occurrence there. Impressed by my memory...although don't get why it would keep such a bizarre fact and not allow me to remember other things. Pah. I watched Ladder 49 tonight. Joaquin....*qwooooar* Was a bit on the cheesey side though and sad. Pah. Men in uniforms ... always good.

He was in Ladder 49 quite a lot. Gladiator he wasn't though was he. Didn't like him in Gladiator though. Pah. Although *whispers* when I saw Gladiator at the cinema, I hated it. It was only when I watched it on dvd that I liked it.

Oh no no, Gladiator took a step up in bad guy philosophy; It showed how a person can become villanous in the first place. Oh and how ruthless he was, as well as sexy, playful, sensual and MY God that accent was cool. Ahem, moving on...

I thought he looked mighty fine in Gladiator...just didn't like the character. Almost got Buffalo Soldiers out today to watch...but decided on Matchstick Men and 21 Grams instead. | |
