I'll say it before and I'll say it again...LEON what was the point of the film if she started alone and ended up alone. I still can't watch the scene where Jean Reno think he's escaped only for Gary Oldman to blow him away. You don't see it but you know it's coming - complete b@^*@d of an ending!

I found The War Zone depressing, as well as disturbing, and I just recently watched Hotel Rwanda, which is a great film (especially the performance from Don Cheadle) but really quite depressing in that these things actually happened

I think that any film that is based on the harrowing things that we can do to each other is depressing........thats one of the reasons why I haven't watched Hotel Rwanda......think I'd find it too upsetting.

I have to say The Crow is the most depressing film I've ever seen. The film itself is depressing but what happened to Brandon Lee makes it even more sad. I also agree with whoever said One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest. And Dog Day Afternoon, the way it ends with Sal getting killed just as you thought they was going to get away just shocked me. And also Scarface, Giorgio Moroder's music makes this even more depressing, when Tony gets killed and you see all the dead bodies around him, almost everyone he knew ended up dead. And finaly, Angel Heart and Midnight Cowboy. The ending to both films with Harry Angel/Johnny Favourite going down to hell and Ratso Rizzo dieing.
People like you find it easy, Naked to see, Walking on air. Hunting by the rivers, Through the streets, Every corner abandoned too soon, Set down with due care. Don't walk away in silence, Don't walk away.

I think we all agree that ones which are of true stories, where people did die in reality, e.g Titanic , Schindlers List etc etc are the most depressing and the saddest because they remind us of unneccessary human cruelty and the horrible things which can happen to us, it's not make believe, it's reality.
However, looking at non realistic films, i would have to say that Star Wars: Revenge of The Sith is sad & depressing. I hate it when Padme says "Anakin, you're breaking my heart" because it feels like mine is too because he's turned evil and he's so goood looking. I also h8 it when anakin and obi-wan fight because they were such good friends. At the end Obi wan says "You were like a brother to me" to Anakin and "you were the chosen one, you were supposed to destroy the sith, not join it!" Im sorry but i just fall apart when i watch that part of the film. Maybe i take it too seriously but I love star wars and Anakin so maybe that explains why i almost end up in tears, im such a weirdo!!

I found Hotel Rwanda (and Schindler's List) inspirational rather than depressing. Although I did feel like crying after Hotel Rwanda but thats more because it took me on a bit of a rollercoaster ride of emmotion/tension as I was rooting for Paul Rusesabagina. Also I felt intensely angry at the western governments who let it happen/left the Tutsi refugees behind.

Hotel Rwanda is an inspiring film. The courage displayed by Paul Rusesabagina is extremely humbling. I found some scenes in this film very hard hitting and although I wouldn't call the film on depressing there were two scenes that really upset me. One, for people who have seen the film, is more than obvious and I won't say what it is. But then there was the exchange between Joaquin Pheonixs' character and Rusesabagina. When Paul believes that now the footage showing the Hutus slaughtering innocent Tutsis has reached Western tv that help will come ... and Pheonixs' reply - I think that scene made me cry most of all ... because it was so true it hurt.
Other 'depressing' films ...
War Zone Morvern Callar (brilliant but always leaves me flat) Deer Hunter Midnight Cowboy The Life of David Gale Somebody Has To Shoot This Picture Dead Man Walking (crikey, going for a capital punishment theme here) Shoah Ingmar Bergmans films always get me ... One Flew ... Christiana F (should be shown in schools) Irreversible American History X
I don't like to pidgeon hole but the above, amongst many others, always leave me feeling wiped out.

I'm interested in why people found Requiem For a Dream depressing?

the last third of Million Dollar Baby was depressing beyond belief and relentlessly downbeat. It was just one thing after another, in fact it almost became funny. All it needed was Clint to get struck by lightning as he leaves the hospital.
And the end of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest is just unbearably depressing

The Killing Fields. Thanks parents for agreeing to let me watch it when I was 6 years old, instead of telling me to go up and sleep. Thanks a bunch. The psych sessions are really worth it!
