I usually find most terrifying movies are the ones that are true, where the killer could be right outside. Any suggestions?

Have you checked out Ed Gein, To Catch a Killer or Son of Sam? There's also A new Green River killer movie coming out soon I think.

Helter Skelter
The Boston Strangler
10 Rillington Place
The Honeymoon Killers
Zodiac
The Hillside Strangler
Jeffrey Dahmer: The Secret Life
Deranged/Psycho (both inspired by the life of Ed Gein, as was the aforementioned Texas Chainsaw Massacre)
Also check out Badlands, not a particularly terrifying film, but based on the Charlie Starkweather case, and still arguably Terrence Malick's finest film.

Also RobbieJess, as far as I am aware 'American Psycho' was a purely fictitious novel/film, and not based on any actual events, in fact it is strongly suggested that all the events take place in Bateman's imagination.

Ed Gein was good, Son oF Sam<=Gyllenhal rendition right? was lame and The Green River killer is actually a mini series not a movie. Unless your talking about the original in which case every one who saw it hated it. But if your talking about the mini series it should be pretty good because they will be able to cover more details, which is great because the case spanned 20 years. Any way the series is called The capture of the Green River Killer and its on liftime starting this Sunday at 8. Everybody loves Texas Chain saw but they heavily embellished that story its primarily base in fiction. American Psycho is fiction and that guy never actually kills anybody or at least that was my perception of the story. BTW this is a healthy list I may have to check some of these suggestions out myself. ;-) Thanks MrCaulfield
