Im always struck by how many people (of a certain age ) have said to me that 'The Lost Boys' is their favourite movie - and I share that opinion! Do any others here agree? time for a sequel!
If you can find a path with no obstacles, it probably doesn't lead anywhere
Its one of my friends fave films. I didnt watch it until i was 22, thought it was good but not that good. Maybe its one of those films you grow up loving, like Stand by Me (or thats how it was for me!).
************************************************************************ I'm fed up with being the best friend, I need to get meself some gumption and be the leading lady!
Yeah i grew up with it too and i love it! The cast were at Milton Keynes Shopping Centre a few months ago signing autographs (i think it was one of them sci-fi collectorama events), so me and mate went cuz we just had to see the two Coreys!! We didn't get their autograps (cuz you had to pay about £15!), but we could see them, they were obviously the most popular. Some of the other vampires were there too but not Jamie Gertz, Jason Patrick, Kiefer Sutherland or Alex Winter.
Thats really cool! i didnt know they did that sort of thing, were they answering questions or anything? was it just milton keynes they were at or was it a uk tour? lol

Yes, yes and yes - It's a supreme X generation cult classic! It has dated badly - blame those daft clothes and hairstyles - but OMG how I love this film, Kiefer is just divine in it; He says very little but his presence and that entrance he makes
My only complaint is Jamie Gertz, she's such a damsel in this and I never undertood why she never became a vampire like her peers. The quotes are good, the soundtrack's good 'CRRRRRRRY LITTLE SISTER' all in all a gem of a movie
"My father had a profound influence on me. He was a lunatic" *Meet the new boss...Same as the old boss*
yeah good soundtrack too. I take your point about jamie gertz - theres no reason why she wouldnt have turned into a vampire as well - even if she was only 'half-vampire'. after all, the small boy (laddie?) she was with did

I'm not sure if they were answering questions but people were having their photos taken with them when they were getting their autographs. Milton Keynes have them sci-fi events quite often, usually on a bank hol weekend. I'm not sure if they do them anywhere else i'm but i should imagine they probably do. Anthony Stewart Head was there too plus people from the new Narnia film, Babylon 5, Star Trek, all those sort of sci-fi things. It was really cool tho...Laddie was there too but obviously he was all grown up, lol.

I have to say it is my The Lost Boys is my favourite film of all time. Billy Wirth is so hot in it as Dwayne (The dark haired vampire that doesnt talk much).
Cos in the end, you'll just be reborn again, you wanna rock, nothings gonna make you stop and nothings gonna break you up, coz your lost in the night time honey, Lost Boys! (69 Eyes - Lost Boys lyrics)
Defiantely one the best of it's genres...Teenage / comedy / horror.
Great story very well told, great characters, sets, scenery, costumes, make-up, etc.
And a great soundtrack.
Obviously if you don't like either teenager or vampire movies you're not going to like it much. You would have a different view on the best movies ever.
I loved that dark haired vampire too, the one with long hair? Gorgeous. And thats my problem with the movie. I loved the beginning when the Lost Boys are having fun, racing their bikes, winding up Michael, jumping from bridges. After that I switch off!
Lost Boys is one of those movies that if you are 25 to 35(ish) is particularly resonant. The older section caught the movie at the cinema or on video and the younger remember it from the late 80's early 90's when it was the late evening movie of choice most bank holidays. It holds a special place in my top list along with the Goonies and Bill and Teds excellant adventure (which were'nt even that good films, but remind me of my childhood.)
Wow, surprised by the comments on here, I saw it a while back and I didn';t care for it at all. I don't remember much about it except not liking it - in fact, I think I positivly hated it - hyped up too much by my older brother he loved it. Each to his own, I guess
It is one of the films of the time it is not a bad film prefered Near Dark to this as vampire movies go, seemed to be a glut of them at the time for reasons that evaded me. Bought the sound track to Lost boys not often I do that!

Before you judge a man, walk a mile in his shoes. After that, who cares? ...He's a mile away and you've got his shoes.

I tend to agree with you, Near Dark was probably a lot better but Lost Boys is in one of those early Vampire flics you just cant deny as being very well made, but as others have said, wouldnt say its one of the greatest of all time, even though I do have a signed Kiefer VHS original in my collection, cannot say if the autograph is authentic though as it was bought from a fan club and probably signed by some spotty kid for £5 an hour saturday morning job LOL, but still a good item to have as a talking point
Both LOST BOYS and NEAR DARK were a couple of the best horror films of the 80/90's era. All you seem to get nowadays is the computer generated rubbish.
