Yep, I think you're right there Doc - the 'special' almost certainly refers to what they're going to be used for...
It's either a sketch for use at Edinburgh Fest OR (and this would really be the holy grail), some kind of TV jobbie...
It may even be something to do with pitching a sitcom and getting an opening scene or two down... OR it could be some form of writing (perhaps a short-form play) for '4Radio'...
Well I've seen about 3 episodes, got an idea of the basic characters I think (probably sooo wrong). Got idea for a few of the them, any way gonna give it a go..
Even if it illicits a response along the lines of 'Which seinfeld did you watch?'
"Strange things are afoot at the Circle-K. " - Ted "Theodore" Logan
He seems to be almost God-like in some circles, and yet, large white teeth aside, I remember very little of any of his performances...the other performers were marginally better, marginally funnier and not quite so...boring, yes, boring is the word I am looking for.
hmmm...I understand the horses for courses argument, and the subjectivity of comedy...but should we put it to the vote how EXTREMELY overrated Seinfeld was/is?
Vote:
This Great Show About Nothing or Nothing Great About This Show
Will still enter the competition though...if Seinfeld sees the scripts he might get some work out of them...his workrate has really tailed of since the end of the last series...
The interesting thing is, after Larry David quit, the last two seasons (8 - which is the prize - and 9) became more like a live action comic book - with way over the top characters and plots... In a lot of ways, they were some of the most fun episodes (if not the most realistic)... They didn't really set themselves any limits on where things could go - and just let their imaginations run wild... So I think it's pretty safe to say we can too...
I'm almost certain by 'pick your favourite character', it means any of the dozens or so that floated in an out over the years - so there's plenty to have fun with... I'd suggest having a Google to anyone who's not familiar with the show, to find out more about the characters and the kind of stories and predicaments they used to get into...
It really is the most perfectly crafted comedy show ever written... Try it and see... I gaurantee you'll find yourself convulsing on the floor with laughter in no time...
Yes, should be another good one... I think it's great they're helping us try our hand at all these new styles that we may or may not have thought of exploring before...
