More recently, they tried to do some 'celebrity skewering' on 'Balls Of Steel', too... But it caused a huge fuss when one of them squirted Tom Cruise in the face with a water-filled microphone and I think that kind of put everyone off doing the big pranks after that, and they toned it right down...
'Punk'd' is often very clever, though, and incredibly well thought out... They need more stuff like that...

Not a fan then?
It's not that Dennis Pennis is not talented but I see his comedy like I see Borat, a form of entrapment, getting people to show themselves up so we can laugh AT them, not with them... there is something about that that I don't like... for me it's not big and it's not clever (as they say...)
Just my opinion, and my opinion is often a minority one (sometimes a minority of one!)
No offence to you m8!

I wasn't offended at all (it takes a lot to offend me - religious people, mostly.) I just wondered why you weren't a fan. I agree with you on the all points you made when talking about members of the public, but celebrities are different. Many of them are surrounded by "yes" people, put on pedestals by the public and are consequently so out of touch with reality, that a short, sharp reminder of their fallibility is refreshing to everybody, not least to them. I think the example Seth gave about Tom Cruise flipping out when squirted with a bit of water is a classic case - what a twit! I laughed until I ached at that one. How may members of the public would've reacted like that if squirted with a bit of water? For all I like clever, intellectual humour, I do like to see certain celebrities brought crashing down to earth and exposed for what they really are by a bit of old fashioned, juvenile humour.
You raise some good points and of course I agree that some celebs are full of poo but the water could just as easily have been acid so it's just not funny (to me). John Lennon wasn't faced with a water pistol, but it could have been.
Also, IMO Dennis Pennis should use his talents to create something worthwhile rather than wasting his time getting cheap laughs at the expense of these dorks.
But as we always say, humour is subjective and it's horses for courses!
I don't rate it, you love it!
