Please? I notice there's not been one since August and I have (quick count) 18 sketches all of which I think are very funny, I've tested them on friends and they think they're very funny as well and now I'd like a chance to test them on real people.
I tried to submit but there's no submit link so I take it you're not accepting sketch scripts? Anyone know who is?
Unfortunately 4Laughs seem to be moving away from developing/encouraging writers as there has only been one competition in months. If you own a camcorder and like performing, then you can be the doyen of the editors, but if like me, you want to concentrate on your writing there is little available at the mo. If you post some of your sketches on the Test Bed, you will get some feedback, but I have found that everyone is too nice and consequently not very constructive(apart from Frankie Rage and Jimjamstew who are delightfully honest). My rule of thumb is that if nobody comments on your stuff, it's either cr&p, or a bit too close to the knuckle for some of the more delicate PC sensibilities on these forums (apart from the aforementioned FR and JJS, who are sickos, but that's what I love about them). If you are looking for a place to get noticed as a writer, then you would be better off going to the BBC Writers' Room site. Hope that helps.
Yep, unfortunately for now there isn't anything happening in the way of script comps on the site - so the best place for sketch material is currently the 'Test Bed'... you can post stuff there and receive feedback from other users...
If you have full length material ready to go (or enough interlinking scripts compiled for a sketch show), it's definitely worth contacting the 'Baby Cow' production company direct to see if you can generate some interest... they are affilated with the site and would be glad to hear from you... Or there are lots of other produciton companies to try listed in the 'Production Company Directory' on the main site...
Also, if you're just looking for a creative writing outlet (you too Summer), I can highly recommend gettign involved with the current 'Comedy Police' initiative running on the site - they're looking for journalistic pieces about new comedy and comedy in general... It's good fun...
