Buying in Scotlnad we sold up first and then rented, however we may need to consider selling in Scotlnad at the same time we buy in England (Lancs).
Has anyone done this and if so, how did you tie the two up? We don't envisage a long wait to sell here (popular area, in housing hot spot, neighbour sold last week before schedule was printed etc) and would prefer to not rent this time (particulalry as we now have a dog!). The market is slower where we intend to buy.
I did this, but it was a while ago. It worked OK for us, but the risk is that your purchase falls through or gets delayed and you are still forced to go through with your sale (due to the Scottish system). I don't think there is an easy way around this. I seem to recall that we thought about completing on our English house first and taking a short term bridging loan whilst the Scottish house completed (only taking the bridging loan once we had accepted an offer on the Scottish house). In the end, we just took a chance.
