what kind of a flat/house could someone buy in England with £30,000 deposit and salary of approx £25,000 pa?? (I know different areas are different prices, but just a general idea would be cool. London is probably out of my reach I presume. I am toying with moving to England next year.... Not sure where to yet though)
Looks like some good choices for you in my area, it's 45 minutes from Kings Cross on the train, and about 50 minutes drive from North London on a good day. Bit quiet around here though.
It's impossible to answer that question as prices vary so dramatically. You really need to decide on at least a region, if not a specific area.
130K wouldn't really buy anything within Gtr London save a studio in a very naff area. It would buy a flat if you headed out a few miles, (or a terrace if you went more than a few) though dependent on direction (forget SW!). If you are to work in London, you would have to take into account the very considerable costs of commuting from outside.
On the other hand, it would probably buy a pretty handsome house in Barrow-In-Furness.

google for "scotland south west property" and never look back. (it's not an advert, i've just moved into a 250 year old 5 bedroom stone cottage, with large gardens, ch, dg, 40ft kitchen / living room for a little under £120k, our income is the same as yours, we had £4k more deposit, we're in a small village with a school, bank, shop, hotel... no main road, our daughters class has just 16 kids in it, we don't even have to worry about uni or college fees here.. LOOK IN SCOTLAND )
