My husband and I have been trying to sell our two bed flat in North London since November. The Flat is a top floor Victorian conversion, the type of which is quite popular with young London professionals. Its close to all transport amenities, both train and tube. We've done it up to a modern standard, neutral colours, fitted kitchen, and a luxury bathroom. The rooms are spacious and according to us the flat is in fantastic condition.
We've had a few vieweings, probaly fifteen in the last 5 months. The only negative comment we've received so far is that the flat is not on the best of roads,i.e its just off the A406.
We've relocated from London and are currently renting in Cambridge. We brought all of our furniture with us when we moved and the London flat is empty, but for a mirror in the Living room.
We have dropped the asking price by £15k in an attempt to tempt buyers, but this hasn't worked.
We're now thinking of hiring some furniture for two weeks, staging the house in the best possible way and having an open house weekend where both my husband and I will be at the flat to show buyers round. Previously the estate agent has dealt with all viewings.
What do you think of our idea? Is a furnished flat more likely to sell than an unfurnished one? Is the open house likely to generate more viewings?
