Hi all

This blasted black floor again. Sorry!
I have black polished porcelain tiles in the hallway, kitchen and utility room. The kitchen is a light wood, worktops are black and I have a Travertine tiled splashback.
The walls in the house are all Vanilla White (with accent walls in some rooms for some colour)
The main colours running through the house is deck egg, cream carpets and brown.
The Roman blind in the kitchen is pale cream with blocks of black and beige dots on.
I just feel that something is missing from the kitchen. I am willing to change the blind if that is what is required. I am just not sure whether to go for browns to warm the place up or reds to inject some colour.
Any advice appreciated before I go off my head! Is there anyone else out there with similar colours? Red Face

Smile right then ... on to the reply that I did before ...

Try rifling through your wardrobes for different bright coloured items and laying them around your kitchen.

My sister randonly left a teal cardigan on my chair for five minutes one day and it resulted in teal accents in my living room!

You've got a lot of black, beige and cream etc. You need something bright - I think pastels will be lost - but just a flash of it, so keep the blind to avoid overkill. I'd steet clear of red personally as it's used a lot to inject 'colour' but with black I find it a bit harsh and dare I say it a bit geometric 80's boys duvet! Brown would warm it up etc. but it would lack any *wow*! factor at all.

If it were my kitchen, I'd be thinking .... oooh... aqua or turquoise, even the duck egg blue you've already used, if turquoise scares you a little! Nothing massive just a vase or two, a couple of cups, pictures. I'd be going less is more with a really bright colour. You don't have to change the blind - you could use a coloured glass handle thing for the pull bit (?!)

I used shades of appley green.

Thanks for that. I have some left over duck egg material from the bedroom that I could bring down and see how that looks. I did originally paint one wall in the kitchen with the duck egg paint and although it looked great on the bedroom, one full wall in the kitchen was too much.
I know what you mean about the red with black too, my brother had that duvet and curtain set when we were little!
