right then ... on to the reply that I did before ...
Try rifling through your wardrobes for different bright coloured items and laying them around your kitchen.
My sister randonly left a teal cardigan on my chair for five minutes one day and it resulted in teal accents in my living room!
You've got a lot of black, beige and cream etc. You need something bright - I think pastels will be lost - but just a flash of it, so keep the blind to avoid overkill. I'd steet clear of red personally as it's used a lot to inject 'colour' but with black I find it a bit harsh and dare I say it a bit geometric 80's boys duvet! Brown would warm it up etc. but it would lack any *wow*! factor at all.
If it were my kitchen, I'd be thinking .... oooh... aqua or turquoise, even the duck egg blue you've already used, if turquoise scares you a little! Nothing massive just a vase or two, a couple of cups, pictures. I'd be going less is more with a really bright colour. You don't have to change the blind - you could use a coloured glass handle thing for the pull bit (?!)
I used shades of appley green.
