We bought our 1st prop a few months ago. Offer was accepted at begining of April and we finally moved near the end of June. Very stressful, on day of exchange solicitor rings to tell me I can't complete as the mortgate company don't have one form ticked (or something) and yet they knew about it for over a week yet they leave it until the day of completion!
We kept our old house and our buyer was desperate to move overseas! We were on the phone to the solicitors virtually everyday and we still had the normal teething problems!
For example, during the searches, they did the wrong house! My bank forgot to release the money and said I'd never asked them to in the first place! Luckily I used to work as a call centre manager and know that all calls are recorded, so asked for a cope of the tape. Once I asked for this, they immediately got into action and wired the money on Friday 3.15pm, another 15 miinutes and we wouldn't of been able to move in over the weekend! On the plus side, did get £50 compensation from the bank!
ive had previous sales go t*** up after 7 months the current one is now 7 weeks 1 day since sale agreed & our buyers only had the survey done on monday
thats really good going. ive had one disastrous sale which lasted from-jan2nd property going on market to Aug 25 comlpetion date, went thru 4 sets of buyers who all pulled out for various reasons not connected with the house ...finance,job security etc and then finally completed several months later. This was no chain either by the way! we have just got a comletion dat of next week for a property with no chain which went on the market late july, it was supposed to be dead easy and no problem but still took what felt like ages!!
Well, I put in an offer on a house eight days ago, and I'm hoping we might be able to complete around the end of November. Chain free both ends, and it looks like there are no major problems on the survey. Mind you... we're still at the very beginning of the process.
