Hi all,
hoping for some advice,
I had arranged for windows to be replaced by a local company, upstairs and downstairs.
The upstairs were done in december, however the boxes and archtraves needed replacing (we were told beforehand that this would be done and still be 'in keeping' with original), I was horrified when I came home to find planks of 5inch wide skirting booard around the new boxes. The windows themselves were fine, but the woodwork a mess.
Needless to say we didn't let them back the next day to do the downstairs. After complaining to the company we were spoken to very rudely in our own house. We then ignored several phone calls while we pondered our next move. We finally called them back and they said they would re-do the wood work.
they have re-done one of the 4 upstairs windows and it is fine,( took one guy all day)
now they want to come back for 4 days to finish off the upstairs and do the downstairs window too.
The problem is that with the hassle and the rudeness I would rather they finish upstaairs, get paid and leave us alone to sort downstairs through someone else.
problem is that they have already made windows to spec.
I see myself as having 2 options:
1. Tell them beforehand not to book 4 days for the job lot and just come for remedial work upstairs- don't know what their response would be.
2. say nothing, let them come for the job, and then stop them once upstairs done, and THEN say no more please.
I really dont want them messing with downstairs because of all the hassle so far and it seems much more tricky as the archetrave meets original coving.
would welcome any advice , and anyone know where i stand legally- have signed contract for all work to be done.
