Personally I'd go to Australia. I could live like a king, mortgage free in the sunshine and not have to learn a new language oh and my daughter would not grow up to be a 'Vicky Pollard'

Question:
Taking into account all the reasons you like to live in one country such as crime, education, un restricted immigration from people with nothing to offer the host country, cost of living, natural environment weather etc... What is the feeling of the board and is it as the press reports, that the UK is the worst place in the western world to live!
Which is the most popular????

Choices:
Australia& NZ
Canada
US
Spain
France
UK
Middle East
other European
Africa
South America

If I had to choose it would be Italy, purely for the culture.....I'm afraid that countries like Australia and Dubai just don't float my boat for that very reason; OK you've got low crime and perpetual sunshine but I need a place that's good for the soul too!
Anyway I'm in a wonderful place now, right on the north Pembrokeshire coast; stunning scenery, wonderful people and low, low crime rates Big Grin

You've missed an entire continent off the list! ...Asia Big Grin

I came out to work in Malaysia (for 12 months) over 3 years ago.....I've not been able to think of a reason to go back to the UK yet Cool

I have lived and worked all around the World so I was quite pleased to settle in Blighty and let everyone else bu$$er off and live abroad.
There are only so many bottles of wine and sunsets to enjoy before getting really bored (and I have lived in Dubai as well!)
If I was going to go anywhere overseas it would be New Zealand followed by Oz but never forget the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence.
Mel.

It HAS to be the US.

It's a hugely diverse country. You can ski in Aspen, sail in Cape Cod, see a rodeo in Texas, chase crocodiles in Florida (OK, not THAT appealing! Eek), ride the Oregon trail, get married in Las Vegas (doesn't everybody?!), hobnob with the stars in Hollywood, climb the Empire State Building, take in a Red Sox game, ride a barrel over Niagra... and that's before breakfast!

There's so much more than just DisneyWorld/Land! Big Grin

Britain is a cold, aggressive, over-priced place to live. It does turn out a lot of creative people, for the above reasons most likely.
It would be nice to spend more time somewhere warmer.

Denver, Colorado was very nice with lots to do and see and with the Rockies just 1 hour away it was great. Very large friendly Brit. community in Denver and surrounding area. Brilliant climate as well.

I recently left the UK for Europe for personal reasons.

I never diss the UK and particularly not London. I had a great life there Smile. A lot is good about where I live now, but it also makes me appreciate how progressive the UK is. Here is like being back in the early 80s - high unemployment, inflexible work practices, casual racism, football violence, grafitti and the like Eek.

A lot of Brits take their opportunities and relative affluence for granted - and assume the rest of the world is the same only sunnier and cheaper. It's not.

The great thing about moving abroad once is that it broadens your horizons Smile. I now have no qualms about moving to Egypt, Italy, Caribbean, China, anywhere, in the future. Dead easy as long as you can pay the rent Razz.

Haha! No, not Spain, the sunny East Midlands! Big Grin But I have lived in the States (I'm half-American).

My childhood was mis-spent living between the US and the UK as my Dad was in the US Forces (US Air Force), my Mum is English.

I'm patriotic to both countries, but given the choice, I'd rather raise my sons in America... Wink

No PM-ing on this forum is a bummer, isn't it? Frown
