Why not find out the cost of the type of survey you plan to have, and then decide if you feel it's worth making the previous buyers an offer based on that. If you had not intended to get such a comprehensive survey done anyway, then you would be very out of pocket.
What else is included in the pack? If it includes a search, then this is very useful to have, as it would speed up the process considerably. But usually the solicitors 'trade' these between themselves and the (normal) search cost is added to your final bill.
Either way, the previous buyers may be prepared to sell the search only, if you don't want, or need their expensive survey.
If it were me, I would try to get the search and arrange my own survey. (I am also wondering about whether implications whether redress would be invalidated by their selling the survey on, should their surveyor have been negligent in any way and you needed to make a claim, as the contract was with them and not you? You could always ask your solicitor.)
