There is a clattering coming from my washing machine drum and I think an underwire from one of my bras has come out and worked it's way right through to the other side of it and is now resting or wedged on the inside of the drum.
I've checked out the washing mashing repair site recommended here but can't find any tips of how to remove it eaily or without calling out an engineer.
Any tips of how to get it out without taking the whole thing apart?
Try putting your smalls in a pillow case, I have had to insist my missus does this as im sick of pulling thongs and what not from the damn machine!
The only way I found to remove items stuck under the drum or in the filter is to get the machine on its top, upside down and fish around that way, its easier to get past the rubber drum seal from underneath, at least on the machines we have had in the past.
p.s, if you do decide to turn the machine upside down, make sure your overflow pipe is upright at all times, you dont want an attack of stinky water.
It sounds to me that, not only are you going to have one boob lower than the other, but that you need to open the back of your machine and get the under wire from under the drum. Just screw the casing off and retrieve. One positive thing is is that storms are forecast today and it's a fact that two women died in the uk last year by having lightening strike their under wires, now you have 50% less chance of that happening.
dont worry, just have a go at it. Although when I have to retrieve the lady garments, I usually find them stuck in the outflow pipes from the drum and they’re easier to get at than the drum itself, the rubber tubes are usually just held on with zip tie type fastenings so you undo them.
I hope you can get your upper flapper shoulder holders in working order soon.

You mean her "over shoulder boulder holder" don't you???!!!!
It's worse when one of the jaggy wires start digging in at work or when you're out, so you retreat to the loo to remove the offending metal and walk about lop-sided for the rest of the day!!!
I have one of those offending bits sticking out now, damn annoying!!!
Last time (and probably only time) my machine was cleaned out, we found about £3 in change, lord knows how many screws from my partners trousers (DIYer - always pockets the ones he doesn't use), hair clips and so on. But no underwires.
Careful when you move the machine though - it can cause alot of damage if you don't put something under it.
"Of course I don't look busy, I did it right the first time."
I think its upper flapper back strapper now i come to think of it (all this talk of dangly bits!) but over the shoulder boulder holder is as equally pleasing to hear!
When I was a student, I used to share a house with six women. The washing machine's performance got poorer and poorer, and eventually our landlord sent a man round to have a look at it. It was a top loading machine, and the man lifted out the rotating bit and lo and behold, underneath were, I kid you not, probably about 50 underwires. I was relieved to be absolved of all blame; ditto the time the bath drain got blocked and it was full of long, thick hair!
