Hi
Any ideas on how I can remove shoe polish from my cream bedroom carpet? Dont want to ruin it by cleaning with something I shouldn't. Thanks in advance!

hi, i think i've seen this on "how clean is ur house" programme with the 2 aggies!lol.
i think they take baking soda and vinegar and put it on things to get stains out. im not entirely sure of this though! but they seem to use vinegar a lot anyway. you could always try a google search and see what comes up. good luck anyway

Dont take any chances if it's a decent carpet and beware of anything you can buy in the shops 'cos some of those products can cause the stain to 'set'. With all the respect in the world to the last poster, it is 'thinking' that X,Y, or Z was the answer (and finding out it wasnt) that does more damage than the original stain.

Luckily for you shoe polish is not liqiud enough to require immediate attention. You should 'cone off' the affected area to stop anyone walking through it and seek the advice of a professional carpet cleaner. There are various forums where these people meet, whether they are willing to dispense advice is anothr matter.....

c'mon bertie, you know that someone will help. Smile
But they will probably sit on the fence until you have told them exactly what type of carpet it is. etc etc. But someone is bound to advise.

LOL yeah, there's help out there to be given. One thing i did learn was to avoid home-made AND shop-bought products. Better to leave well alone when ever possible and seek help.

Or do what i do - buy cheap carpets Big Grin

I am not an expert (needless to say) but when I had a cream coloured carpet in the lounge I was forever spilling tragic stuff like cola or red wine - I once managed to chuck to plate of bolognese sauce over it Red Face I always used a product called White Wizard, a white paste which I buy from Lakeland Ltd, but I think you can get it in supermarkets. It even successfully removed the bolognese sauce. The carpet was 80% wool, 20% manmade.

(We have stripped floorboards now, much safer Big Grin)
