My 25 year old daughter has just phoned to ask me how old I'll be on Friday. 49 I said but I'm convinced that there has been a mistake on my birth certificate.

Does it feel strange being that age and having a three year old she replied. No its great I said although a little embarrassing when the grandparents of my three year old's friends are younger than me.

This whole age thing is a difficult thing to comprehend. Does anyone on here feel in line with their chronological age.

Certainly not! What a suggestion! Eek
(Don't forget Eileen, middle age is always ten years older than you are now - presumably this means you wake up in an Old Folks home one day having gone straight there without passing go or collecting £200 Confused )

Good heavens, no!!

I'm 57. Fifty-seven!!! That's more than middle-aged, that's getting towards old!

There are retirement properties I am old enough to qualify for. In three years time I can retire and get free pensions and a bus pass.

I don't have any children but my nephew and nieces roll their eyes and demand to know when I intend to grow up. And the answer is - never, really. Because despite all the evidence to the contrary, I know I am still only 22, and sometimes only 12.

I really have no intention of letting reality spoil my fun! Big Grin

I'm a great-aunt at 27, I have god children who are now married, bought houses, have more senior jobs and are more settled than me.

I really, really don't want to be that mutton-dressed-as-lamb embarrassing auntie Frown

Ah well, they'll just have to live with it, I'm not rushing out for my blue rinse just yet Big Grin

Now the first bit I understand, having been an embarrassingly young great-aunt myself, but the second bit baffles me. Are you saying you stood as godparent when you were five, Trish? What church allowed that?? Confused (Or did you stand on a chair with a long coat down to the floor? Big Grin)

I'm 51 - allegedly. Actually I'm 21 with a face that looks as if it needs ironing.

I dunno, I would have been about 5 yes, I remember thinking what on earth would I do if something went wrong? Maybe they were all lying to me. I've been living a lie Frown(actually I'm just relieved that they grew up without the need to call on my skills). My Mum is notoriously batty, she probably delegated the role to me Big Grin and she did tell a lot of porky pies. I never actually believed that I was one but Mum insists it is the truth as does my sister (whose child I was supposed to be god-parent to). I just nod my head, it's easier to go along with it.

I am genuinely a great-aunt though.

I'm 27 (now a very young age to own one's own a property I guess?) and some people say I look early-mid 20's! Big Grin Razz

Trish, I met up with a guy I used to go to school with a couple of years ago. He said that he just became great uncle at 24/25! Eek
