Has anyone got any experience of these? Just for an en-suite not the main bathroom.

One loft company tried to persuade to have one of these for our ensuite. I wouldn't touch one with a bargepole. We had a proper system put in for the ensuite.

My sister in law had one for her 'guest loo'. Almost every visit we made to her, she would say "oh don't use the loo, it's not working". It would always be blocked. On the rare occasion it worked, it was incredibly noisy. And when you ran the water in the guest sink, the macerator would be triggered and start growling (apparently this is normal).

I once read a strapline on a complaint article about Saniflo. "Saniflo - it isn't sanitary and it doesn't flow".

I can remember Melboy having some negative comments about it too - I believe Jonboy refuses to go out to blocked Saniflo's.

I don’t really like them, although they serve a purpose. They can be ok where they aren’t going to get a great deal of use, and are now more reliable..

Yes, wouldn't recommend these Saniflo's unless your really desperate (in more ways then one! Big Grin)
We don't have anything to do with them because if we fit them, the Customer will expect you to attend to blockages etc. and we dont do Poo!

We just moved into a house with a saniflo toilet and it is acting really bizarrely! Sometimes the motor doesn't kick in at all and then at other times it is going every 30 seconds for seemingly no reason whatsoever!

The worse thing is that today the water level in the toilet has risen to the top of the bowl and so far the damn thing hasn't kicked in!! Without giving too much details the bowl isn't just containing water..... Eek Will I have to get a plumber in or are there diy instructions on how to unblock it?

Please someone help before I have sewerage in the bathroom.......I hate the thing and we've only been in a month!!

The reason we are considering one is that we have a funny shaped house and set up with the neighbours. Our downstairs bedroom was very long so we decided to put up a partician wall and put an en-suite in. We did the wall and bought a suite but when we looked down the man hole the neighbour has a fresh water pipe running through the drain (yew) to his little cottage at the end of the drive. He's converted if from an out building into a guest bedroom I suppose.

Our plans of putting a regular toilet in have bit the dust as there is a destinct possibility that any 'debris' would get blocked on his pipe.

We wondered if by putting one of these toilets in we could put the thinner pipe through the drain in addition to his but ours would run to the septic tank. It would be used infrequently but even so I woulnd't want problems with it.

Have had one in our offices for 10 years without problem, any I have fixed have been damaged by mis-use never failed units.Re-velvets comments about friends loo , the unit will run when any water is discharged into it , thats the whole purpose of the unit , to pump water and waste from where there is no drainage.
Main causes of failure are sanitary towels or flushable wipes, which aren't.So though I would only use them as a last resort they are only as unreliable as the person using them.

Never argue with a woman. You might win - and then you'll really be in trouble.

I completely agree it's performance is a direct result of what's flushed down it Bighead - but if it's a guest loo you can't really expect guests to remember, and to treat it like a loo on a Greek Island (flush only what comes out of you plus a tiny bit of loo roll). Similarly my SIL's kids did not 'remember' what was flushable and what wasn't.

Re the macerator running when the sink water runs, yes I understand it is 'supposed' to do that, but it is a bit annoying if you go to get a glass of water in the night and in the process allow a teaspoon of water run down the drain - entire house awoken by angry macerating noises. Red Face
