Well what are you waiting for? Call the police. You have paper evidence that they're fraudulent, getting stressed and doing nothing is internalising it all and allowing them to get away with, not only harassing you but possibly others. I hope you get it sorted.

There is an organisation called the Central Accounting Office, who supply these people with the data. I got in touch with them when I started receiving letters from the police marked C/O my address. It is really frustrating to be redirecting ever increasing red letters to somebody no longer living there and not being able to sort it out as you can't really open other people's mail.
Anyway, this Central Accounting Office seems to be a totally inefficient organisation.
In all, I sent my details three times by mail and even faxed through copies of tenancy agreement and bills to prove who I was and never got any reply from them. I still started receiving bailiff letters and visits even though I had done my best to send the necessary proof!
I think this is the reason that so many people have trouble with Bailiffs, the information that they are supplied with, if my own experience is a guide, must be inaccurate.
How many other peoples addresses are wrong on the Central Accountant Office computer, leading to upset and fear for people? I am a fairly tall guy and feel well able to deal with people coming to my door about matters that are not to do with me, but even I felt a little jittery about it, how would an elderly or frail person fare? Something must be done about this government office and the way that Bailiffs are administrated. To be fair, the Bailiff company sent a polite letter to me and asked me to send my details to them direct, so I am not directly complaining about them, they have a job to do after all, I am really annoyed that a goverment office set up to help the officials get the right people can be so inefficient and cause me so much hassle.

The Bailiffs did not turn up yesterday, nor yet today. So what, they can just turn up whenever they like and break into my House?! Eek

I have put a note to the Postman on my door asking him to only deliver mail addressed to myself.

I have put another note on the door stating:

*Warning*
This house is protected by Witchcraft. Any attempt at forced entry will be severely punished.

What more can I do to protect myself?!

Ary.

Dear Aryldi,

I have another good protection charm for you, write the following on a piece of wood:

Who Comes To Me I Keep
Who Goes From Me I Free
Yet Against All I Stand
Who Carry Not My Key

Place it like this inside your front door: example, mine is against the outside wall by our front door under the stairs. And it does work!

Black Salt on your doorstep and at least on all your doors and at the front of your property will do the trick as well, and finally if you remember watching the movie THE SKELETON KEY, I think that's the correct title, it was about New Orleans, in it was Kate Hudson and they were using brick dust to put on doorsteps that's another good protection charm.

Hope this help, please let me know?

P.S. If it is really a nuisance ask the community warden and/or police to survey your house during the time you're away from it.

Yours

Wynter Myst

Wow! I'm almost feeling sorry for aryldi's bailiffs.
I had the same when i bought this place. Many letters etc and nothing got sorted. I never gave the forwarding address either as it is not my style.
They turned up 1 day and i showed them a letter from my solicitor saying completed the purchase of this address will be on so and so date.
All it had was my name and this address.
That is all it takes.
Oh yes, council debt ref numbers are different when they are passed onto a bailiff or debt collector who use their own ref numbers.
Google will provide you with details of any company name and address that you type in.
Aryldi, you are either the most most paranoid person around or you secretly enjoy the conflict. Confused
You don't need to be giving passport details out. Just a letter saying the house has been purchased. Once they see this, job done.

Hopefully after more than two years (see the date of the original posting...) the bailifs have given up.

Indeed they have. I eventually called the Police, after receiving a note saying that the Bailiffs would be around to remove stuff from my house on x date whether I was there or not.

The Police were very good and explained to me that the Bailiffs would not have permission to enter my house without a Court Warrant. If they had a Court Warrant, they would have a Policeman with them. I could invite the Policeman in, show him my ID, and they would then tell the Bailiffs they had the wrong person. The Policeman would protect against any acts of violence or law breaking.
He also told me that even without a matched reference or knowledge of where these threats were coming from, the Council could and should be able to call off the Bailiffs simply by calling them to confirm my identity and that they did not have a record of any debt linked to my house.

If they came and tried to break in without a Policeman present, I could call the Police as that was illegal. If I called to make an appointment with them, they were legally obliged to stick to that appointment and not turn up at a different time. If htey broke in without me present, having ignored my booked appointment, they would be breaking the law and I could call the Police on them.

So I called the mobile number on the Bailiff's note saying to call to pay them if I didn't want a visit, told them that I would be waiting in on y date, and if they came without a proper Court Order and Police backup, I would be calling 999, and as the Police station is located just up my street, they would be there in seconds.

I also gave the number to the Policeman I spoke to, who agreed to phone and confirm that he had spoken to me and that they should not turn up without a proper Warrant.

I also ordered the Council to phone up the number to confirm to the guy at the other end of the phone that I definitely did not owe any council tax, and was a different person to the one they were pursuing.

I then called back to check that the guy got the message and he promised he would not be turning up on X date

Funnily enough, they backed off at last.

It's amazing what calling people past Midnight can do.....

Ary.

Glad it was sorted.
But I still think that bailiffs are just people.
I've always opened the obvious post and phoned the companies straight away to set them right. They are always apologetic and it doesn't go any further.
And like I said last year was it? I invited them round one time and it was sorted from there.
They can't just break in and take stuff - it you are truly not the person they are after, you can prove this surely?
