Can anyone recommend good websites for buying bathroom fittings (bath, toilet, basin, shower, taps etc)?

we used victoria plumb and avalon - do a google search for the website addresses.

I've also heard that screwfix are good but haven't used them personally.

Thanks...anymore?

I've looked at bathstore previously but their range isn't as big as I would hope. E-bay - are you kidding?!

If you are in or near London I recommend Aston Matthews - very ordinary looking shop crammed with gorgeous things & not as pricey as you'd think. Apart from that definitely eBay for things like taps and shower units. I don't think I could have afforded to move house if it wasn't for eBay!!!

They sell the same stuff as some other large stores for a cheaper price.

If you know what you want , try small local shops and haggle. I'm trying to get a Manhattan shower screen and I've already managed to get £70 off the RRP of £250.

You can buy anything on eBay. A friend of mine just bought some rugs and is delighted with them. Another friend bought some venetian and roller blinds. I have added to my collection of 50s Denby crockery. Follow the rules and the advice about sensible buying and you can get fantastic bargains.

I get makeup and clothes from eBay too.

I bought my shower on ebay. It was £100 cheaper than all the other places I checked.

Thanks all. I do a lot of buying and selling on ebay but for some reason it never occurred to me to go for bathroom fittings from there! Definitely something to consider.

Collect all your brochures and price lists so you know what you want.

Book a day trip to Calais (my apologies if you live north of Watford) and enjoy yourself in the DIY outlets there. All the stuff available in the UK is way out of date and you will have to ask twice if the price is correct. (As for joinery!)

Enjoy a good (affordable) meal, save on shopping and don't forget to fill up on fuel.

I mentioned e bay because i know of someone based in France who sells bathroom fittings to us Brits at a whacking profit and his customers think they are doing well!
Bathroom fittings in France are dirt cheap and no compromise on quality.
