Does anyone have any experience of having cork floor tiles in their kitchen? I understand you can buy them already sealed? Are they available from the big DIY stores?
I had cork tiles in my last house in both the kitchen & bathroom. I went for Wicanders, ready sealed, and loved them. They don't show the dirt, wear very well (they still looked good after 3 years and the kitchen was a throughfare to the garden & downstairs loo). They are also warm, even in winter, if you pad downstairs in bare feet and if you, like me, have a bit of a bad back, they have a certain ammount of 'give in them, so if you are standing cooking for a while they don't make your back ache like tiles do. Am TOTALLY biased in their favour above any other floor cover for a kitchen and I've had vinyl, quarry tiles & linoleum also over the years and many houses.
Thanks so much Biggles. Thats just the answer I wanted! I love the look of them and actually think they are better than stone tiles. I have seen a pack of 9 tiles for £12.75 (12"x12") - any idea whether that is reasonable?
I had them in a kitchen years back. They did wear very well and didn't show the dirt, so if you like the way they look (I don't) you really can't go wrong.
