In no particular order: inform the utilities (taking the opportunity to get a better deal), change doctor, library, tell council tax people, inform all friends by email of new address, get spare light bulbs, take electric kettle.

And label your boxes / furniture. If you have a lot of stuff, it is worth also listing briefly the kind of things that are inside your boxes so that when you are unpacking you have the bozes in the right room and searching for particular bits & pieces is one hell of a lot easier than if you have a mound of matching boxes to plough through.

Have an idea of where you want the furniture to go, so that you can put it in the right place from the start, leaving you ready to unpack straight into your furniture (and then rearrange & fine tune later on).

Make sure you mark up your change of clothes, tea, coffee, mugs, supper & breakfast box clearly so that you can find it once you move in... so that you can have your bath, tea, break, go to bed, everything you want to do when you are exhausted without having to unpack everything just yet.

I hope the move goes well

Ary.

ps. remember to take gas & electric reading from your old place and new place on the day you move.

inform your credit card, council tax, store card, friends & family, phone company, neighbours, leave address labels for the new owners to forward your mail with if you have not got a divert already in place, and don't forget to update your car registration, license and insurance documents. Make sure your contents insurance covers you during your move aswell as in your new home.

inform your work place, pensions agency, voting registration people, you children's school / nursery, doctor, dentist (you may have moved out of their catchment area, so be prepared to re-register elsewhere), any catalogues you subscribe to...
