Hi, We've just moved house and need to get the washer and dryer out of the kitchen. The downstairs bathroom is large enough for both washer and dryer to be put into the far corner with the shower in the opposing corner. Now comes the fun part.

In Europe getting plugs wired would be no problem, had a washer in bathroom for years. I was told by bathroom sales agent that there was no problem, but the Electrician said that it was a tricky business, but that there were ways around it and that the rules were bound to change, 17th revision so that the UK would upgrade to the same standards as Europe. Wow, wouldn't it be nice to have proper light switches.

Is this going to be more trouble than it's worth, or should I look forward to using an extension cable? So far I've only found a few blogs about putting a washer in the bathroom, no mention has been made of putting a dryer in the bathroom. I've seen people put dryers on their balconies and run them outside. Surely, the showerroom is a safer place.

If I would separate the utility off from the rest of the bathroom, with entry from the bathroom, would the restrictions be lifted?

Advice?

It's ok provided it's outside the 'wet' zones is you put the usuall www in front of this diydata.com/electrics/bathroom_electrics/bathroom_electrics.php it should provide info.

Never argue with a woman. You might win - and then you'll really be in trouble.
